I thought Jack Black acted superbly within an intriguing true story. Guess I'm on my own with my opinion though......

I really enjoyed this too. Sometimes it's enough for a film to meander along, look pretty and gently amuse.

Seems to me some people are forgetting how spoiled we are to see so many films for free and to use those opportunities to meet some pretty nice people into the bargain...

We had the ususal queue till 6.20 then up to the rubbish screen, with surround sound i.e. the sound of the next door film  As soon as it started, with Jack Black was singing along to an awful Country song - THE WHOLE SONG 8O I knew I wasn't going to like it.

I left before the end, what was the point of staying when I had no interest in the film whatsoever? 2/10 for Texas
So you enjoyed it then eh Val? I am sure you have said that you hate that cinema so I was baffled when you said that you were going

I think its more, that we have been spoiled with so many good and varied films this year. I for one am really grateful to see so many films, especially ones I would't normally go see.

Just because we have the advantage to see a film for free that doesn't mean people should have to adjust their opinion of a film and judge it more favourably. If someone believes it to be a stinker it's still a stinker to them, whether it was an advance preview or not.

I am not spoiled just because I don't like a film. I think the more films you see the more critical you can naturally get as you have more films to compare the latest one too, but for me that's a good thing, and there are still plenty of films I love.

OH was asleep with 5 minutes of the start. I kept waiting for ??????? something else to happen. I did laugh in places, mainly the interviews of the citizens and this for me was its saving grace. Not a big fan of Jack Black but he did keep his usual 'enthusiasm' under control. It just left me wondering 'what? was that it?'

My second biopic this week. A disappointing film. I was expecting more of a comedy from this film which was shot in a documentary or mocumentary style. Based on a true story. There were a few funny moments but these were few and far between. The film was quite flat and pedestrian.

The best bits was when Matthew McConaughey was on screen as the unscrupulous self serving DA.

Unfortunately some real life stories should not be made into a film. This film is one of those examples.

For me I preferred the Look of Love.

Saw this last night at Glasgow and apart from taking some time to get into the main story, I thought that it was enjoyable. Couldn't think of anyone else who would have suited the role better than Jack Black. Made it even more intriguing that it was a true story!

I took the scene
with the car crash where the Grim Reaper paraded about in the background
to be real albeit played for comedy. Can anyone confirm that I was right? Am begining now to think that it was a set up scene or demonstration for the school.
I did think it was funny (although only if unintentional) when one of the corpses corpsed when being picked up, and was told not to laugh
