Think I'm more cross about wasting one of the precious 2 SKY allocations for this month. None left now until September.

Cineworld Unlimited is cheating! ;-)

I'm genuinely surprised by the negative comments - I found the movie rather funny and quite fascinating - these 3 guys incredibly thought that they could get away with it. Yes, it was a bit gruesome in places, and there were a few groans from the audience including from myself, but that's just what happened. Overall there were many more laughs than groans.

7.5/10

Recommended.

PS to get more Sky allocations, get another sky ID for a family member!

A long wait in the queue at the Omni tonight to get in as the film before didn't come out until 6.20pm and ours was due to start at 6.30 but was only a few minutes late.
How odd. I arrived at exactly 6.20pm (following a mad rush down from Dundee) only to be told by the SKY rep that the screening was full after there having been a long queue. I doubt they'd have had a chance to find their seats let alone be full. Normally I'd have been clicking my heels with glee at the prospect of getting to see something else instead, but with a seeming glut of vouchers at the moment i'm struggling to find things I've not seen. Opted for The Wolverine which was a good deal, but now I'll have to use a voucher to see Pain and Gain. Bah.

There was a VERY long queue with my friend and I near the top as we had been there since 6pm. Aylthonian and chell1973 were near the end of the line. Sky rep came and counted heads and then at 6.15pm they let some of us at the front go and stand outside the screening until the cleaners came out and then they were letting in groups at a time. So they knew how many seats and it was full before they started the film.

I went to see this last night. Knew nothing about it really. Just that mark wahlburg and the rock was in it (guilty pleasure :D)
I loved it. And was glued start to finish.
I did find it a little strange that it was funny tho considering the story and its based on truth.
Really felt bad for laughing. But couldn't help it.

8/10 from me and I would see it again

Ps. Why do people come so late ?? One group of girls can in at 7.20 last night?!!!

My sentiments exactly. I hated this too. It seemed so long and went on and on, I just couldn't wait for it to end. Nodded off too! 4/10

The highlight was catching up with Beate, seems a long time we had not seen each other. o/
Snap! :X
I didn't like this use of farce/comedy in the telling a real life story particularly as it involved murder and violence. I'm sure the relatives of those who were murdered will find nothing entertaining about this version of a series of dreadful crimes. There is always a debate about shooting a film of real life events particularly so soon after the real events. This film should not have been made in this style. I would have preferred to see the story told as a straight forward story ie factual. That would have made a greater impact! :tears:
Marks 4/10 at a push! I'm not sure I'd even use a voucher to see this,sb, and I certainly wouldn't p*y to see it!
Quadruple snap! All pain for me.

I guess there is a history of black comedy to me mined from inept, nasty criminals whose plans go wrong from Fargo right back to The Ladykillers, but definitely not done like this. Ill judged and not funny 3/10

* The Sky lady was so nice, the screening was full when we arrived, but she got the manager and must have moved some people and bent over backwards to get us into the film. It was even paused for a few minutes whilst they seated the last few people.
I'm not sure whether to thank or curse her next time I see her! :D

i still think it was a dumb film, but then what else is it going to be when the people it's about are dumb.

Definitely more pain than gain. A few laughs littered throughout mainly because it is supposed to be a true story, so the ineptness of the gang was the main draw for me. Miami Vice spoof.

Well this tickled my funny bone, in the same vein as Fargo. I wonder what the disparaging people think is good a dark comedy. "Duplex" maybe.

Saw the film this evening and got to agree with what you said.

Where is the humour in real life events where 1 person got tortured for a month and another 2 got killed?

From the bit of reading I've done online since I got back, the events in the film seem a fairly accurate portrayal of what happened.
