Well. Certainly not a contender for any awards but I thought it would be worse than it was. In places I felt it was a poor man's Kill Bill (really poor) and didn't get the excitement about the lead (the screaming girls made me laugh) nor the applause at the end (seriously?). But if you viewed it as a comedy then it wasn't so bad. Not something I'll be watching again of course. Oh, and was anyone reminded of Ghost by the shadows of the creeping Ninjas? A total cheesefest and can't believe there were two actors I recognised in it. They must really be hard pushed for work.
Still, it was funny (although perhaps it didn't intend to be) and as it wasn't as bad as some, it's a 5/10 from me.

I was standing right behind a Ninja on my way out. Didn't look that scary to me.
The woman trying to convince my friend to do a comment was scarier. She didn't entice him despite her promise that it would be on the internet...

I noticed that. I was tempted to point out to him that Monkey has got nothing to do with Ninjas, but he'd clearly gone to a lot of effort, so I didn't want to upset him.

Oh and shame on Peter Bradshaw for his one star review in the Guardian today where he states that "Asian/American action hunk Sung Kang" plays the lead character (I think he played the Yakuza in the opening scene). Although I can't necessarily argue with the review itself he could least get his facts straight before criticising a film.

As far as I can remember Monkey actually had red hair in the TV show, so are you sure you aren't getting confused and the guy was just dressed as a Ginger Ninja instead?

Film was OK, Fantastic if you are a fan of Gore but after a while was a bit repetitive.

HOWEVER I'd argue that this is exactly the kind of movie that its film-makers are trying to offer you!
It's a reference back to all those Ninja movies of the 80's but with a modern update, and guess what, those films had thin plots and bad acting, etc. but the focus of these films was on always trying to deliver entertaining action.

Ciro22 - think you hit the nail on the head. This is the kind of film that is so bad in places that it works (if you take it at that level). Someone mentioned this being like those bad Steven Segal films. I also thought that. It also reminded me of those Jean Claude Van Damme type movies which I know for a lot of people are guilty pleasures. I think it has the potential to become a cult classic and like you say they just don't make films like this any more. I don't think it is going to be in anyone's top 10 but I am surprised more people didn't enjoy it for the cheese that it was - I guess you have to be the mood to absorb that kind of nonsense and I definitely was!

TheyCallMeMrGlass since you mentioned 'Rain', I wasn't sure what that was. Just found out that it is the main character! Could he really be known as Rain?? Oh yes he is! And he was in a boyband! sorry this just gets better and better lol lol! He looked better in the film than he does in some of his other photos. He definitely had a little fan club in the crowd. They must have almost fainted with all those topless scenes
