Have to agree with destresserai

[quote="destresserai"]A so-so family film which would probably be okay to watch on a wet Sunday afternoon but nothing special. The storyline has been played out many times before - The Game Plan immediately comes to mind - and the antics of Eddie Murphy have been seen in most of his film before. quote]

However that said, my son did enjoy it, and we both laughed in a few parts. My neices (all under 8) didn't make it in the end and my son felt that they would not have been able to sit through this one for the whole time. It goes back to the question - who is this film directed at?

I can't say that I was particularly disappointed. This film is in line with Eddie Murphy's recent family films - of which there have been quite a few - but no major box office hits to note.

5.5/10 from my son

well saw this today on a rainy sunday morning in edinburgh

very surprised that the cinema was so empty only about 30 -35% full which considering all the tickets were long gone was quite strange.

worth getting up early to go too. Agree with the other reviews Eddie Murphy is bit of the same old same old in these childrens movies. Adults laughing but not many children, dont think they would understand all the stock market stuff. One of the few films I have been at that I could predict what was going to happen!!

now the wee girl who played his daughter was fantastic, would love to see her in something else.

She brought the rating of the film up to 6/10 for me and glad i went to see it :D

Yes I was at the Omni in Edinburgh too, Marjoreemarjora.

Luckily it wasn't too wet when we left and like you we were very surprised that it was so empty - perhaps the rain and an early Sunday viewing put some people off going and decided to stay in bed.

We enjoyed it more than we thought. The little girl stole it for us - she was sooooo cute.

It was too complicated for children to understand and not enough funny bits for them to laugh at.

Grrr Just back from the Reading Showcase showing of this. Did anyone else go to this for the advertised time of 11 only to find out it started at 1030?!!

The guy at the cinema said some people had received e-mails from SFF with the correct time but they forgot to tell poor ol me.

As missed 15 mins of the beginning decided best to come home *cries*

By the sounds of the other posters we didn't miss too much and I'm home in time for Murder She Wrote this afternoon wooohooo x

Just seen this film and after seeing reviews on here, I didn't expect much. But it was much better than I expected, I'd give it a 7.5/10.

I realised I had forgotten to add our review of this one - I guess that in itself says enough really. We thought it was Ok - but I really agree with those who have asked - just who is this aimed at? Not enough funnies for the kids - and not much plot, action or interest for the adults.

Eddie Murphy just seems to have the knack for picking flop after flop.

The girl who played his daughter was excellent though - and I would have thought she has a bright future ahead of her.

5/10 for the cute little girl and her lovely performance.
