Iloveholidays wrote:City Island was cancelled at Vue, Thurrock tonight. Although management knew this afternoon that the film hadn't arrived, we were only sent an email by Telegraph Subscriber's Club at 18.09 cancelling the film, a bit late as we were already at the cinema.

Management gave us a choice of 2 other films to see for free - Inception or Toy Story 3. We found Inception and the concept of 'dream theives' a totally pointless, repetative waste of time! Wish I hadn't returned the A Team tickets for Southend.
That's doubly annoying! First, the film you want to see is cancelled and then you chose a second choice which you didn't enjoy :x. It's a shame they didn't give you free tickets for a later date too then you could have seen City Island another time.

The more I think about City Island the more I like/d it. Islington Vue was fairly empty. Guess everyone was at A Team. I didn't really find the son's story disturbing or unbelievable, as some people have a fat fetish. It reminded me of an episode of CSI where some guy went to a fat fetish convention and got suffocated to death by one of them.

Wasn't that fussed on the daughter though.

I was sitting at the front on the left hand side with my family and oh. Where were you msthrifty? I did think you might have been behind me but then I didn't hear any laughter!

You talking to me? Imagine that being said in a Clint Eastwood voice :p

I was at the back sitting next to Beate and her OH. I was with my family too. It's good to sit next to Beate as she points out people by user names o/ .

I was surprised the cinema was as empty as it was.

We were on the left-hand-side, a little way up the raked seats. This is where I always sit, so I don't have to crane my neck up or down and end up with an ache. But when OH accompanies me, I have to cede the aisle seat to him and miss the opportunity to stretch my legs.

Wife and mother-in-law went to see this last night, reported back that the film was very good, funny and a very good story, commented that the trailers do not do it justice.

Maybe you should sit on one aisle seat, and him on the aisle seat on the other side :p

Sunny Saver--We were there too. Two rows up from the back row (husband, son and me) and Beate waved to us as we came up the steps and OH gave us a friendly thumbs up. Glad to say hello to prettyxcool. And isn't Islington Vue a good place to see a film--lots better than some of those Central London venues.

yeah, I sat in those leather seats - they are so roomy and no heads blocking my view.

Thanks steve9872. I got one and found only me and bevvy wore them! I even wore it when I went to the screening in Birmingham - but no one approached me. :D :D
