- a muffin
edit: tonight, it's gonna be a yellow and red cherry tomatoes salad <3 with some crisps and cheese aside. Then an apple or grapes

You could have shared the chocolate muffins Octopus ;)
Biggins did you see Preston in the sunset on your walk? Talking of which the skyline on the train coming back from York was just stunning at sunset it looked liked somebody had painted stripes across the sky. We walked all day in York it is such a pretty city but I can't really class it as exercise (shopping all day plus sitting in the sunshine in the gardens of the Minster in the sunshine) and I did overindulge when I was there I had a pot of black coffee plus a cauliflower cake (sponge cake covered in marzipan) at http://www.bettys.co.uk/bettys_stonegate.aspx it is such a cute cafe (its haunted by Sheila the friendly ghost - as long as she doesn't eat my cake I'm happy) and you don't have to queue forever unlike the large Bettys (that is also worth the wait if you have the time). For dinner I had lasagne and shared a portion of garlic dough balls with DD and now I feel really sluggish and my stomach feels a bit weird which will be due to overeating plus 3 days on ibuprofen (I have never taken painkillers for more than a day so its a shock to the system). Its amazing how bad you do feel when you don't eat proper food - I don't mean ill just not as full of energy as usual.

Menu of the day:
Smoothie with a banana and strawberries (250 calories)
Cauliflower soup (recipe in the asda magazine) I'm guessing at about 150 calories as it looks healthy plus the toasted almonds will be where the calories come from (I still have loads left from my curry from the other week) and I will use spray oil plus a bagel (150 calories)
Meat chilli with wholemeal rice (500 calories)
I will add on another 200 calories

I'm having a lazy day today as nothing planned (the free air raid shelter I was going to see was only free yesterday so I will go another day when its free) plus I'm going to watch The Adjustment Bureau (daughter has to watch it for Sociology and write up about it) plus my Sense and Sensibilty DVD has arrived so I will watch that too (I will do my ironing at the same time - daughter back at college hence my job now). I will do a brisk 4 mile walk plus my exercise DVD as I have a completely free day. :D

What is everyone else eating today and what are you all up to?

It's good to have a lazy day sometimes!! Enjoy it but be careful with the calories...!
As far as I'm concerned, I'm working. Leaving home at 3, back at 11! Did some exercise this morning (abs, push ups etc). I'm thinking of starting jogging after my holidays. I'm not good at that, but it would be good for me.
Also, speaking of holidays: I've decided to go slow on the food. I want to try local specialities, but the rest of the time, I'll have salads and fish dish. You have my word!

This morning I'm having an earl grey with.... chocolate muffins. I know I know, I'm having a lot of them this week, but on the other hand I don't really have chocolate or sweet snacks :) Only grapes and apples! Which is clearly new.
It's probably because of the very hot weather that I am enjoying that so much. I'll be more likely to eat biscuits on rainy days... but I cross my fingers, cause I seem to really like my salads and my fruits :)

Today:
Lunch: fried egg + courgettes + steamed potatoes + apple
Snack: cereal bar
Dinner: lettuce / tomatoes / sweet corn salad with a bit of salt and olive oil. Maybe ham. And grapes for desert I guess!

Walked to the cinema and back again this morning so that's my exercise for the day. Off to daughter's in Fife for a family gathering - will try not to eat too much. :cross:

Sounds like a lovely day in York Diane. It is a lovely city and nice shops.

Think Preston has gone missing - gone to far on his bike and can't get back again! ;)

Hi everyone,

Sorry I've not written on here for a while. I've decided to not be so hard on myself with the dieting & the exercise - I've realised that I'm not able (health-wise) to exercise as much as I was, without experiencing a lot of pain the day after. I need to start up the swimming again (but not as often for now), & improve the diet again (the pounds have started to creep back on.....), but I can't exercise as much as I'd like to.

Instead, I'm focusing on my health & trying to pinpoint what causes my pain...it can be so unpredictable though, so might be a tricky one.

Also, my birthday is at the end of this month (30 sept) so I'm trying to plan a night out...usually I go clubbing (I love a good boogie!) but cos of health I think I might go out for a meal instead.

I always love my birthday, & get excited like a little kid....amazing to think that I'll be 33 this year!!

Hope everyone's well. I've not been on here for a while so will have to go back & have a good read.

Clare x

Welcome back ClareBarr. You are so right about being too hard on yourself it must be difficult to pace yourself especially when you are feeling well and thinking another 10 lengths in the pool will be good as the adrenaline takes over but unfortunately for you its like p*y back time as you end up in pain. Enjoy your birthday and a nice meal sounds lovely - I too love a good boogie (sadly my clubbing days are over a long time ago :noo: ).

I was a greedy guts yesterday and had a large slice of birthday cake, it is so easy to slip back into my old ways whereas I should of had a thin slice :nono: I think its because I am not chewing as such so don't feel full but as I've got 2 weeks to go until I go back to have a veneer/cover or whatever it is bonded to my tooth I will just have to deal with it. I am feeling normal again as I've stopped taking my ibuprofen.

Menu of the day:
Porridge with a black coffee (300 calories)
Cauliflower soup and a bagel (300 calories) An apple (50 calories)
Meat chilli with wholemeal rice (500 calories) strawberry mousse (50 calories)

I will do my exercise DVD today and hope that I've not put on any weight as I have over eaten at the weekend so now its damage limitation over the next couple of days.

Hope everyone else is OK including our absent friends Preston1990, havingascreen and Valda. Looking forward to hearing from everyone. I am working today but not starting until 9.30 hence a late finish. I would much rather get up and start work at 8am.

Welcome back Clarebarr! Perhaps you could do some gentle exercise to keep you active and lose some weight. You enjoy swimming so why not go and have a relaxing swim without overdoing it and causing yourself pain. I don't swim 50 lengths or swim very fast but it all helps and it is enjoyable.

Had a lovely day yesterday with the family and didn't overeat but did eat more than I would have done at home.

Been to the supermarket and now got the washing in and have done the hoovering. Cleaning out some cupboards while I wait for the washing drying and then can get it all ironed!! Why is it when hubby says he has nothing much to do to day he means 0 - but a woman means housework!!! :x

Might have time for a walk this afternoon before the cinema tonight. :cross:
