Free book
Telegraph readers can claim a free copy of 12 Years a Slave from Tesco Express stores nationwide, with the newspaper on Saturday, January 18, 2014.
To celebrate the release of the award-winning film, 12 Years a Slave, the Telegraph has teamed up with Penguin and Entertainment One UK to offer readers a free copy of the book, by Solmon Northup.
Solomon Northup is a free man, living in New York when he is kidnapped and sold into slavery. Drugged, beaten, given a new name and transported away from his wife and children to a Louisiana cotton plantation, Solomon will die if he reveals his true identity. This is the searing true story of his twelve years as a slave: the endless brutality, daily humiliations and constant fear, but also the small ways in which he and his fellow men try to survive.
12 Years a Slave is a unique, unflinching record of slavery from the inside, and the incredible account of one man whose life was ripped from him - and who fought to get it back. The critically acclaimed film, in cinemas now, stars Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Chiwetel Ejiofor and is the winner of a Golden Globe for best motion picture.

Monday, February 10
Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell
Cranford is an affectionate and moving portrait of genteel poverty and intertwined lives in a nineteenth-century village. One of Elizabeth Gaskell's most beloved works, it centres on a community dominated by women and governed by old-fashioned ways. The formidable Miss Deborah Jenkyns and the kindly Miss Matty's days revolve around card games, tea, thriftiness and an endless appetite for scandal, until change comes into their world in the form of the modern ideas of Captain Brown, a bank collapse, rumours of burglars and an unexpected reappearance from the past.
Tuesday, February 11
The Secret Agent by Joseph Conrad
In the only novel Conrad set in London, The Secret Agent communicates a profoundly ironic view of human affairs. The story is woven around an attack on the Greenwich Observatory in 1894 masterminded by Verloc, a Russian spy working for the police, and ostensibly a member of an anarchist group in Soho. His masters instruct him to discredit the anarchists in a humiliating fashion, and when his evil plan goes horribly awry, Verlac must deal with the repercussions of his actions.
Wednesday, February 12
The Five Orange Pips and Other Cases by Arthur Conan Doyle
Sherlock Holmes, scourge of criminals everywhere, whether they be lurking in London's foggy backstreets or plotting behind the walls of an idyllic country mansion, and his faithful colleague Dr Watson solve these breathtaking and perplexing mysteries. In The Five Orange Pips and Other Cases, we encounter some of his most famous and devilishly difficult problems.
Thursday, February 13
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson
Published as a 'shilling shocker', Robert Louis Stevenson's dark psychological fantasy gave birth to the idea of the split personality. The story of respectable Dr Jekyll's strange association with 'damnable young man' Edward Hyde; the hunt through fog-bound London for a killer; and the final revelation of Hyde's true identity is a chilling exploration of humanity's basest capacity for evil. This edition also includes Stevenson's chilling story 'The Bottle Imp'.
Friday, February 14
Persuasion by Jane Austen
Persuasion, Jane Austen's last novel, is a moving, masterly and elegiac love story tinged with the heartache of missed opportunities. It tells the story of Anne Elliot, who, persuaded to break off her engagement to the man she loved because he was not successful enough, has never forgotten him. When he returns, he brings with him a tantalizing second chance of happiness.

Re: Telegraph Deals
Free Book
Pick up your free copy of The Monuments Men in cinemas now, from Tesco Express stores nationwide, with the newspaper on Saturday, February 15, 2014.
To celebrate the release of the award-winning film, The Monuments Men, the Telegraph has teamed up with Arrow, A Penguin Random House company and Twentieth Century Fox to offer readers a free copy of the book, by Robert M. Edsel.
Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men focuses on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners.
It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys – seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 – possibly hope to succeed? But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1,000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind’s greatest achievements.
The Monuments Men is now a major film in cinemas now, and is directed by George Clooney, co-starring Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray and Cate Blanchett.
How to claim
See the newspaper on Saturday, Feburary 15, 2014 for details of how to claim the free book and for terms and conditions.

From Monday, February 17, Telegraph readers can pick up a three packets of Alan Titchmarsh seeds each day. The seed collection is worth over £35. For more details on the different seed group, please see below.

Monday, February 17– Free vegetable seeds
Growing your own vegetables is the perfect way to make sure you’re getting your five-a-day, not only will your home-grown treats be tastier than anything you could b*y, they will also be fresher and jam-packed full of nutrients – not to mention the enjoyment that sitting down to a home-grown meal can bring. Now is the ideal time to get in the garden and prepare your seedbeds for the growing season. Most crops will produce when positioned in sun, or fairly constant dappled shade. For strong, healthy growth, ensure plants are kept in moist, well drained soil.
Tuesday, February 18 – Free annual flower seeds
Everything you need to make your beds, borders and baskets look amazing this year! Hardy annuals can be sown directly into their flowering positions in the spring and will tolerate a certain amount of cold. Well-known flowers such as sweet peas, poppies, stocks and sunflowers fall under this category. Sow outside in the garden where you’d like them to flower – it couldn’t be easier. Pot up annual plants and grow them on in bright, frost-free conditions. Plant annuals in well drained soil in full sun.
Wednesday, February 19 – Free herb and salad seeds
Herbs are very easy to grow and are essential ingredients for all types of cooking, as well as injecting life into a salad. Grow them on your windowsill or create a herb garden just outside your kitchen door, so you can easily pick a few leaves to add to your meals. Quick-growing salads and radishes can be grown as 'catch crops' between rows of garlic, onions, carrots and other slower growing veg to make the most of the space in your vegetable plot. The perfect addition to your kitchen garden.
Thursday, February 20 – Free perennial seeds
Add a splash of colour to your beds and borders with these herbaceous perennials. Ideal for cottage gardens. Perennial plants bloom year after year, and many can also be cut and brought into the house for beautiful flower arrangements. As a general rule, biennial and perennial seeds should be sown in spring, but some can be sown in autumn as well. Many varieties will self-seed after flowering, giving you even more plants! Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost.
Friday, February 21 – Free root and pea/bean seeds
Homegrown beetroot and chard (or leaf beet) seeds are simply delicious and easy to grow. They can generally be sown from March to July/August and will give you a good crop of vegetables to keep your salads bright and fresh. Peas and beans are easy to grow and great for children too. Sowing in succession (every few weeks) means you'll have a continuous crop throughout the summer. Try growing sweet peas next to your runner beans to improve pollination.

Sowing in succession (every few weeks) means you'll have a continuous crop throughout the summer. Try growing sweet peas next to your runner beans to improve pollination.
