STUDIOCANAL harmonises the name of its affiliated companies in the United Kingdom and in Germany.

From September 1st, 2011, Optimum Releasing and Kinowelt, subsidiaries of STUDIOCANAL in the United Kingdom and Germany, will be named STUDIOCANAL.

This decision to create a single, unique brand definitively establishes the company as a European studio.

STUDIOCANAL will also have a new visual identity, with a new logo (see attachment) and new moving logo, both created by British agency Devilfish.

The moving logo will be unveiled in early September, for the world premiere of TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY, film based on John le Carré's best seller, directed by Thomas Alfredson, starring Gary Oldman and Colin Firth, produced by Working Title and fully financed by STUDIOCANAL. (The film will be out on September 16th in the UK, and early 2012 in France and Germany)

Along with this change of name and visual identity, STUDIOCANAL's German teams will move offices from Leipzig to Berlin, on September 1st as well.

Olivier Courson, Chairman, says: "We are already working together as one company across the three countries so this is a very natural evolution for STUDIOCANAL. It will strengthen our status as the only European company in the UK France and Germany. It will also provide clarity to all of our creative and business partners."

ABOUT STUDIOCANAL

STUDIOCANAL is a European leader in production, acquisition and distribution of motion pictures, and the only studio in Europe distributing all media at the source in the three largest markets: France, United Kingdom and Germany. STUDIOCANAL owns one of the most comprehensive film libraries in the world with more than 5,000 French, British, Italian, German and American films. The company is increasingly active in International Production having fully financed THE LAST EXORCISM, having co-developed and co-financed THE TOURIST starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp, and having co-financed the Joel Silver production UNKNOWN starring Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger and January Jones.

STUDIOCANAL is currently in post production on its fully financed Working Title production of John Le Carre's TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY, directed by Tomas Alfreson and starring Gary Oldman, Colin Firth and Tom Hardy.

Trailer for the new movie Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy was released today. It looks amazing (though I may be biased because of a certain mister Cumberbatch gracing my icon there) XD

Thor 2 will land in July 2013

Thor will definitely be heading back to the big screen for a second solo outing after The Avengers.

Marvel and Disney have announced that Thor 2 has been given a release date of 26 July 2013 (for the US - no word on the UK yet).

That means that Thor 2 will take its bow just two months after Iron Man rolls out his third solo feature film, with Iron Man 3 due 3 May 2013.

Though Thor’s early trailers generally generated shrugs around the Total Film office, the film itself surprised us with its rich storyline and well-placed humour.

The film’s now grabbed $437m in worldwide ticket sales, which justifies Marvel’s decision to turn the film into its own mini-franchise (at least at the business end).

Sadly, one of Thor’s pivotal figures won’t return for Thor 2 – director Kenneth Branagh is only sticking around in a producing capacity. Shame.

CURZON MILLBANK CINEMA ANNOUNCEMENT
Friday 1 July 2011

It is with great regret that Curzon Cinemas has decided to sever its relationship with its client, Altitude Broadcasting & Corporate Studios Ltd, and close its Curzon branded Millbank cinema, in London. This unfortunate decision has been taken after Altitude Broadcasting & Corporate Studios Ltd went into administration in early June.

It was hoped that a resolution could be reached allowing the cinema to continue operating. Unfortunately this has not been possible and therefore we have taken the decision to withdraw our involvement with the cinema and our client, Altitude Broadcasting & Corporate Studios Ltd, effective immediately.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the local residential and business community for their support since the cinema opened in February of this year and we hope they continue to visit our other Curzon Cinema venues around the capital.
Preferred Cinemas :
Richmond, Kingston, West End, Wimbledon, Shepherds Bush, Clapham, Westfield, Fulham

Interesting bit of news, jeancomp. Of course the Curzon Millbank had to be one of the most uncomfortable cinemas around and considering it was brand new it was very poorly designed. I remember meeting funthing there -- maybe for the first time--so that was its sole redeeming feature!
