Killing Bono
Re: Killing Bono
Yes, sorry that's right. Unfortunately I cannot make it at the later date, was looking forward to watching a British comedy, it sounds amusing.

Dreadful film - about as funny as toothache, went on far too long as well - praise the lord for the free popcorn though!

Re: Killing Bono
I saw this Tuesday at PCC. It thought it got off to a slow start and I struggled with the Irish accents at first, and the sound seemed a bit low early on. Once it got going, though, I enjoyed this a lot. Personally, I have no issues with unlikeable central characters. An interesting or entertaining film can revolve around people that one wouldn't want as a best mate, if the story it tells is solid and that was the case here. I thought everyone performed very well in their roles and it was a fun role to see the late, great Pete Postlethwaite. He looks like he was having fun and that was wonderful to see.
It probably helps to be a U2 fan as they are a pretty important part of the story and anyone waiting to see Bono killed in an Inglorious Basterds-type spin on history will be sadly disappointed. It's actually quite flattering of Bono. I'd give it 8/10.
The Q&A was quite fun, as well. Both Ben Barnes & Nick Hamm seemed really up for it and the screen projecting the lovefilm interactive chat made for some great comedic moments. I wouldn't say there were any earth shattering revelations but it made for entertaining added value.

102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Re: Killing Bono
the metrocentre was so empty for this screening I think I saw tumbleweed pass by. Don't rate this at all, how boring please? I think the use of comedy in the descritpion should be questioned under the trades description act. It felt like I was watching this movie for yonks. I kept coming round and was shocked to find myself still in the same screening, I'm sure I was in there for 4 days or more. Anyway nice to see the old gang again especially the newly svelte jmbblue who is looking mighty damn fine - you go girl!

Re: Killing Bono
I saw this last night at the deserted MetroCentre. I rather sadly made a point of counting the few people who showed up - 24. Pathetic.
I agree with Spanner - the word comedy cannot really be used to describe this film at all. And it did drag in places. That aside, it was an interesting account of how the bands developed alongside each other, one becoming a global phenomenon, and the other slipping into obscurity.
I enjoyed all the music!

Re: Killing Bono
This movie is not that great to put it mildly. I agree with the other people in here: too long and not funny
