Not long back from seein "Kevin". One word review ........ Wow!
Although I thought that the film is very powerful, I did struggle for the 1st 20 minutes with the opening scenes jumping about, mixing up past and present. The audience was very small (probably only about 20 people) but the atmosphere was quite tense. I am not a fan of Tilda Swinton but she was excellent playing the part of the mother. The boys who played Kevin were outstanding and brilliantly cast as they could well have been the same boy at different ages.
My only gripe was to do with school, particularly in the early years. No mention was made of school until Kevin was a teenager. I would find it impossible to believe that he would have been "normal" in school and would have prefered to either see him being home schooled (thus taking away the intervention of education officials) or to have seen some early problems at school.
The one thing that is sure is that I'm glad he is not mine!

I got the impression his early years was home-schooled from all the effort his mother put in with the ball and adding numbers etc.

Anyway, although I enjoyed it, this film felt like a dementor to me. Has totally drained me. A very powerful and sharp film which at times is very dark and disturbing. Ezra Miller was excellent in his role as was Tilda Swinton. The younger Kevin's particularly the youngest Kevin was wonderful. Well worth watching and highly recommended.

I was thinking the same thing while I was watching it. She's a super woman to take the consequences and still visit her son. Hell, if that was me, I'd flee to another country and disown the child. Then my mother always tells me that you would never do that to your own child, no matter what they do and I will never know until I am a parent. Does she want to bet?

According to the book he wasn't and there was some grizzily scenes with his classmates, it was more psychological torment than gory but the book described them superbly.

Off to see it tonight, looks like i'm in for treat 8-)

Absolutely LOVED it, what a visual delight of a film. The cinematography, metaphoric showing, bloody brilliant acting and casting, soundtrack...i could go on and on and on. o/ o/ o/

Also enjoyed the way it brought a new dimension to the main characters without being too heavy on the sensationalism like the book. The friend i went along with hated the book whereas i thought it was clever and chilling at the same time. Definately a book that stayed with me and moved me to both horror and tears. This film was just as captivating and superbly told by Ramsay.

/10 just for the fact i didn't like the ending, same reasons as the book.

I made a mistake...he was home schooled but went to nursery.
