I thought it was brilliant myself. Rockwell stole the show but the whole cast were excellent. Lots of laugh out loud moments but also a number of eww moments I wasn't really expecting (although I probably should have guessed considering the title!) Anyway, an easy 8 out of 10 from me and another i will no doubt p*rchase when it is finally released on blu-ray. All these 'free' films are costing me a fortune! :D

i have no idea why the u (yoo) in p*rchase is a * btw! i tried saying b*y too and it happens to that as well!

Were having a discussion at home ....
After Walken's character (Hans) is shot whilst pulling out his dictating machine - were his last recorded words "It's not gray" (referring to his earlier discussion about the afterlife with Rockwell (Billy)? We couldn't quite make it out.
WOW, I loved this.

Some great acting - was particularly impressed with Sam Rockwell, but the star quality really was the writing by Martin McDonagh. Very clever combination of real life and the story within the story. Laugh out loud funny and unpredictable (a rarity in movies these days).

Saw it at Greenwich O2, and liked it! Good entertainment, strange good humour, good actors, TOM WAITS, rabbits, craziness, great lines, good script 'Adaptation'-style.
8.5/10

Saw this at the O2 Greenwich which apart from odds seats was packed - which is saying something given the capacity at the Sky Screen.

I enjoyed the film, but it flagged at the end. It could have done without the monologue from the Walken character about his take of the movie.

And, i wonder what you all felt about this - the movie should have ended 30 seconds sooner; just when the Waits' character phones Farrell, with the arabian sword in his hand, asking why his wishes for the end credits weren't carried out, cutting to a shock reaction from Farrell.

funthing29 wrote:I saw this at a test screening ages ago and I thought it was decent enough felt the black comedy wasn't edgy enough and played it a bit safe. Farrell was underwhelming in the lead but I did enjoy Rockwell and Walken's performances.

Having seen the trailer months later, I found it very misleading and gives the audience the wrong impression of the film.
I was there at the test screening too, back in May! At the time we were told not to talk about it.

I actually thought it was quite good. The story was quite clever and the humour was quite dark. Just realised I used the word "quite" quite a lot! Christopher Walken was Christopher Walken. Colin Farrell and Woody Harrelson was also type cast. 7/10

We stayed behind to do the focus group as we were enticed by the £5 Apollo voucher, but the researcher was not interested in my views as I had ticked good on the form, whereas 5 people ticked excellent and 7 ticked very good and one person, fair. So he concentrated on those that said it was excellent and very good, and I discovered afterwards why, when at the end of the discussions, he asked towards the back of the room, if there were anything else they needed to know - he was actually asking the director! hmm, so that probably pleased him no end! May be I should go and see it again to see if they had incorporated any of the comments.

If you ask me that's entirely the wrong approach and they should have concentrated on the people who had constructive criticis - what's the point in just referencing those who loved it? I bet with you they haven't taken anything on board and it's just as crappy as it was back then.

Yes, at the time I was quite peeved about that approach. But the interviewer did ask those people who liked it what they did not like, although I did feel he did concentrate too much on what they liked! So presumably they kept everything in that these people liked! So not a lot of changes, but I did not think it was as crappy as you thought! I actually quite liked it! ;) It seems opinions are quite divided here too, which is a good thing! The world would be so boring if we all liked the same things!
