Got a laugh scheduling this in my Google calendar - it automatically noted the event location as "the Air" :D

I tend to find that the air is a pretty integral component of most of the things I put on my calendar.

Looking forward to this film. I wasn't to mad about Thank You For Smoking, but I really like Juno and this looks like its alot better than all of the mediocre-to-decent films that had Oscar buzz last year like Slumdog, Milk & Benjamin Bum Bum.

according to 'Rotten Tomatoes', this is their best reviewed film of 2009-hope to see it in a couple of weeks time-and will post a review then.

I'm looking forward to seeing this film on 12th January - it's been nominated for 5 Golden Globes. :D

They cancelled our screening at the Vue Greenwich! No explanation, just that Sky had cancelled it, and we haven't even got any snow yet in London! Just as well I have seen it already. We were allowed to choose another film and went to see Nowhere Boy in a totally empty screen - just us and another couple! Has it been showing a while already or don't people go to the cinema on a Tuesday? I thought this film was brilliant, a very respectable 8/10 from me although the actor who plays John Lennon looks nothing like him. In fact, he is much more handsome and I can see what Sam Taylor-Wood sees in him! Funny to see Thomas Sangster as Paul McCartney.

But whenever I think I got it all figured out something like this happens and throws all my planning out the window. I actually do have another pair for Up in the Air for next Monday at WIQ, but I was informed today of another Filmstammtisch screening at the Goethe-Institut (a film with my favourite German actor, Moritz Bleibtreu), and that happens to be on Monday too! Would love to see it, argh, what to do? I hate too much choice. :wall:

Just seen this in Manchester.

Only about 8 people in, which normally would have been very annoying, but was understandably due to weather - city centre was like a ghost town after the film.

As for the film it was excellent, well worth the cold journey.

It's smart and funny, whist also being dramatic and emotional. A lot of the emotion comes from the main characters job and the people he meets, but the film never loses its lightness and fun.

The story keeps you on your toes and everyone, especially the 3 leads are excellent.

Think its tipped for the big awards and its not hard to see why, restores you faith in movies they do still make them like they used to.

I was there too Beate. Decided to watch Nine as it started at 06:05 and so we only missed the bulk of the adverts, having turned up at 06:15. Anyway the film was very entertaining and fun. I thought all the dances were well choreographed. I thought Judi Dench's character in the film was quite funny and I never knew Penelope Cruz could dance like that. A must see for all those who enjoy musicals. I would rate it 7/10

That's very annoying, but it seemed to work out in your favour. The Wimbledon screening went ahead though and was fairly busy. I'd seen it before also but enjoyed it so much the first time I decided to see it again. It was that or 'It's Complicated' and I wasn't too fussed about seeing that. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else was at that screening because response to it seemed a little subdued at times. I think the script is constantly funny but some scenes didn't get the response I expected. As the film went on the laughs started coming however (Especially when the Anna Kendrick character comes into it). The screening was also marred by a couple of my 'preview screening' pet peeves. The projectionist forgetting to change the lens used for the previous film, resulting in a squashed screen for the first 5 mins (including one excellent cameo), and people being let in long after the film has started (I thought the couple coming in after 30 mins was bad enough but somebody else came in an hour into the film. Why would they bother? They've missed half the film!). Still that didn't ruin what is a great film. If anybody has tickets for next week I can definitely recommend this. It's a smartly scripted and well acted film. George Clooney is excellent in the lead role but the supporting cast is top notch too. Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick are both fantastic and there's a couple of effective cameos from familiar faces as the workers that George Clooney's character has to fire.

Saw this last night in Swiss Cottage and can't make my mind up about it. It was good, funny (but wouldn't say it was constantly funny) and it was certainly different and well acted. Loved the twist as to who the "bad guy" turned out to be (although I think we all saw it coming) but struck me as not fitting together in a few respects, but that might be because of my own views on family. Also probably tainted because the cinema while clean and tidyish was tiny, and the film was a bit quiet. Also I thought Clooney looked a bit old and not as good as he usually does. Anyway, certainly not sorry to have seen it.
6.75/10 from me.

By the way, superhero, you mentioned a particular line that got the best response... which was it? I can't remember which line it was but there was one point that a few people applauded...
