marketing poor YES - In fact the marketing leads you in by asking 'will it be an action movie?' and then the film tells you emphatically 'absolutely not', even though you are sitting waiting for something loud to happen for most of the movie. You are basically given something very different from what was inferred you'd be getting.

This is the snack disappointment equivalent of unwrapping your Terrys chocolate orange bar and finding an oaty breakfast bar inside. Hold that, its worse - its the equivalent of when you were a little kid :star: and you broke open your first ever giant Crème Egg Easter Egg, then you were crushingly disappointed to realise there was absolutely no crème inside it  .
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I had no idea what I was going in to see when I booked this film, what I found was an absolute Masterclass performance from Tom Hardy. Progressive and compelling. 9/10

ditto!

I'd glimpsed a poster and actually had been expecting some kind of action/superhero movie about a man in a black overcoat and beard! Lol. Pleasntly surprised with what we were given.
I can understand why people who'd seen trailers/marketing feel let down and disappointed.
It is Marmite in the jar, but it says honey on the label.

Take it for what it is - an exquisite one-man performance. A monologue with support from other actors by phone. A really interesting idea - that works.
Oh - and it does have an ending. He comes to the end of his journey, and all the threads throughout have been tied up.

After thinking about this a bit I like it more and more - it's astonishing how much Knight and Hardy do with so little:

Here's my review:

All it asks from audiences is that they exercise empathy for the lead and place yourselves in his shoes. It's a stunning achievement.

Surprising how much this has divided viewers. An excellent film, claustrophobic & compelling, showing how one instant decision can have massive implications. A great performance by Tom Hardy. I found the monologues to his father to be too overtly theatrical in nature, but other than that I thought it excellent.

Such a bad boring film

A whole film of someone driving a car in the dark into London
with no one else, just lots of phone calls...

you waited and waited for something to happen...and nothing did...
such a let down and massive waste of time.

All the reviews, critics, saying its gripping and exciting and rerfreshing ALL LIES

Acting - not much there, with the one tear drop hardly amazing.

avoid this!

I think the honourable thing is to NOT cheat on ur wife, not even only once ;)
True. But he's hardly the first character in a film to be guilty of this!

Absolutely loved it! Such a compelling film, which didn't drag for a second. Tom Hardy was incredible!

Thought this was incredible. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical about the premise, especially considering it was directed by the guy behind Hummingbird. Thankfully it was a lot more compelling a watch than i expected going in. Tom Hardy is superb and the idea is refreshingly executed rather than dull.

I think it is highly unfair of people who disliked the film because it didn't match up with the marketing campaign.
Knight has made a very brave film which is akin to a stage play but we get the opportunity to witness the emotion on Hardy's face close up and in detail.

If people are so swayed by what critics say and what is written on posters, then might I suggest you don't take notice of these things before seeing a film. That way you will watch a film and see how it works for you without any prejudice.

Thank you Mr Knight, Mr Hardy and all the fantastic voice cast for a truly compelling film. o/
