Re: The Proposal
The Proposal was OK - I would give it a very average 4/10. I liked Betty White and the scenery of Alaska was the real highlight. Not one to b*y on DVD!

Re: The Proposal
Mixed reviews... I look forward to seeing Bullock at the movies again, been ages (years if I'm honest) since I last saw her on the big screen. My screening date is next month, so will have to wait a couple more weeks before my curiosity will be met. I like a good rom-com.
Preferred cinemas: All Central London: APOLLO Piccadilly, EMPIRE Leicester Sq; ODEONS: Leicester Sq/Covent Garden/West End/Whiteleys/Panton St; VUE: West End/Fulham/Islington, CINEWORLD: Haymarket/Shaftesbury Ave; Brixton Ritzy,
Then: Westfield, o2, Clapham

Re: The Proposal
Well we liked it, mostly for the scenery (my bf visited Alaska a couple of times when he was a kid and I was expecting snow everywhere
) which was absolutely amazing and the family home which was spectacular (heck, even I wanted to marry Andrew just to get that house - material girl, thats me
). Ramone was brilliant and almost made me pee! Sorry, I love to share
Overall 7/10 from us.

Re: The Proposal
Saw this last night and thought it pretty much met the mark for a Sandra Bullock rom com movie. I thought the scene in the garden with the dog was particularly funny. Running commentary from the woman in the seat behind was a bit of a spoiler but still overall a good night out.

Aahhh! don't get me wrong i wasn't complaining about her, but this makes a lot more sense for the moment in the film!! I was being very confused lol, i was just a couple rows up from her, pleased there was no smel that far up lol, poor u Spanner!! People can be so classy eh lolSpanner wrote: and just to inform anjirose, i was sitting next to that wifey and she wasn't crying, but laughing cos someone she was with with either did a wass-eye fart or made a noise that sounded like one, hence the fit of giggles from her and the stern look from me.

I quite enjoyed the film 7/10. BUT I saw this at Odeon in New St Birmingham Screen 7 (the underground one) the place is awful. It stank. The seat next to mine had plastic sheeting over it, Dread to think what it was covering up. I certainly would not want to p*y to see a screening here.

I was fortunate to see a preview screening of this film on Tuesday evening at The Odeon, Silverlink, Wallsend. The screening itself was very busy, and predominately female. It was a fairly good romantic comedy, and Bullock and Reynolds created some laugh out loud moments throughout. They were able to achieve a certain chemistry that has been lacking in other similar romantic comedies of late.
Sandra Bullock plays the part of an executive in a book publishing company, who forces her assistant/lackey/dogsbody (Ryan Reynolds) to agree to marry her in order to avoid deportation to Canada. He goes along with this madness, but throws in a few conditions of his own – it’s get your own back time on the up-tight, always the boss, city girl, who takes no prisoners in the workplace and who is the best man for the job.
Off they go to Alaska, to a very pretty seaside town, and we are met with the most beautiful scenery. This film is visually stunning - you would almost expect to see a few humpback whales breaching. It took my breath away in places.
Bullock and Reynolds are supported by a fine cast – Betty White, Oscar Nunez, Mary Steenburgen and Craig T. Nelson. Many of the funniest scenes are stolen by Ramone (Oscar Nunez), who seems to have several jobs in the town, including night-club dancer/stripper and minister. Betty White’s character was fabulous, wise-cracking and sensitive at the same time.
This is a light-weight rom-com with several funny scenes. It is frivolous and light-hearted, and a delightful way to spend a couple of hours. Would I recommend it?
Yes, unreservedly.

Re: The Proposal
I saw this at Lee Valley, which was probably no more than half full. Some definite laugh out loud moments for me. Ramone was a highlight but it wasn't the greatest comedy I'd ever seen and some bits seemed a little forced. Overall I quite enjoyed it but I may be a little swayed on this as I do tend to like films with Ryan Reynolds.
I never realised Alaska could look so beautiful- it has never really interested me at all but I wouldn't mind a visit. 7/10
