v funny 2nd time round. You see more gags the 2nd time too.

the film more empowers Melissa rather than makes fun of her size. This is way removed from some of her terrible comedies of the past (her name was becoming synonymous with bad comedy due to that previous run).

Saw "Spy" at Showcase in Leeds on 01/06. There was rarely a time during this film when I wasn't laughing. Even made me cry with laughter at one point. It was good to see a few well known British actors, and to see Jason Statham take on a fairly comedic role. Melissa McCarthy played her role superbly, best actor for it. Would absolutely recommend everyone sees this film. 9/10

I really enjoyed this film. It was full of witty lines and great to see Statham and Law sending themselves up. 9/10

This film did not live up to the hype. I found it cringeworthy in places, and the overuse of foul language was uncalled for. Admittedly, there were some funny moments, and it was amusing to watch Jason Statham in a comic role. 5/10 (and I'm being generous).

This took forever to get started, didn't it?

Agood half an hour before it found any sense of pacing (not to mention actual laughs.) It only really sparked when McCarthy and Byrne were on screen together. Still, there were some genuine laughs, and the fight choreography was brilliant. Not as good as The Heat or Bridesmaids, but still worth your time.

Didn't you find the opening scene when Jude Law's character sneezed, funny?

It was a rubbish sneeze! It took me a few seconds to realise what had happened. I had presumed the bullet had come from someone else behind him.
Jude needs sneezing lessons.

I used my first free tickets from this forum to see this movie and would say I have mixed views about the film. Its funny in parts, but for me Melissa McCarthy has never got back to the performance she gave in Bridesmaids, where she was hilarious in my view. Also the story line could have been better, as it was pretty lightweight and some of the other acting performances left a lot to be desired. Jason Statham was annoying, although I appreciate it was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek parody, but that just did not work for me.

This really is one of those movies where they have put most of the funniest parts in the trailer, although perhaps I'm being a touch unkind here, as its not a bad movies, just not a great one.

I have to 100% agree with the comment about Melissa McCarthy, looking like Dawn French, I had to do a double take to be sure it was still her and not a cameo from Dawn French. Given I had free tickets it was okay, but I'm glad I did not p*y to see the movie.

Wasn't keen, I'd seen the reviews were good but I just didn't think it was funny, probably doesn't help that im not that keen on Melissa McCarthy, I still get horrors of that awful TV show she's in where they just make fat jokes for the whole duration. Not awful, but forgettable and wouldn't watch again. 2/5.
