maybe they did test screenings on it and it wasn't received well...or they wanted it to be different from the book?

:thanks: blackmidnight :)

the one thing I did think...why didn't Kate
go for emancipation herself? she was old enough and didn't have to accept medical treatment if she didn't want it?
Did anyone elses screening have tv cameras outside to record peoples opinions (well the ones who liked it obviously) for tv and radio trailers?

Hardly a dry eye in Boldon tonight. I thought it was very moving, and having never read the book, I enjoyed (wrong choice of word, given the subject matter) the film. My friends and I thought Cameron Diaz was pretty good in the role of mother. All the led actors and actresses were very good indeed, particularly Abigil Breslin and Sofia Vassilieva. Evan Ellingson, the actor who plays Horatio Caine's son in CSI Miami, did a fairly good job as well.
If you have not seen this, I suggest you take a packet of tissues with you, just in case you need them.

8/10 from me.

Sofia Vassilieva! thanks andrews! I spent the whole film wondering where I've seen her just googled and it's Medium that I know her from.

I saw this tonight and rather that give my opinion of the acting I would like to congratulate the make up people. I was suitably impressed with skin discolouration, bloodshot eyes dry and cracked lips. That poor girl must have had to sit through hours of preparation even before any acting was done. I expect at least an Oscar nomination for the make up people.

I was confused by all the jumping back and forth in time - I spent most of the film wondering how many kids they actually had - was this one another sibling or one of them at a younger age? Also, I do not think that Cameron Diaz is mature enough to tackle such a role with the skill it needs - she just came across as a cold, crazy bitch most of the time. That said, the film was good enough, although really trying hard to make you cry (which I didn't). The court scenes actually fell to the wayside a bit, while focusing more on scenes from Kate's short life, but I thought Alec Baldwin, though filled out quite a bit, was great as the lawyer and the service dog was interesting as I had heard before how dogs can sense when their owners are about to have an epileptic fit.
I think the ending was right, the book ending sounds just crap.

I am going to give this a 7/10.

phunkygal I saw the TV creat at Odeon TCR!!! Did you speak to them? I walked past them quickly whilst they were talking to others! Phew!

That screen was soooooo small and the seats weren't raised high enough to be able to see properly! Wish I watched it at cineworld instead! So many people walked in late and because I was right at the back, I couldn't see anything! The third row from the back got up to let some people through. :nono:

Having not read the book, I didn't think the film was overly great. I did enjoy it but not enough to make me want to go read the book. It had a good story line to it, felt sorry for the brother and sister the most. It was nice to see she experience love before she died. I thought it was really sad how she didn't know he had died. I'd give it 7/10!!!
