That's why I search the forms for the 'don't know', or 'prefer not to answer' now.

I don't see myself as having a box to either. My Nationality is British bit I would never describe myself as English! Like se7en says the nationality on your passport is quite different from you ethnic origin.

I don't think anyone likes being an 'other' I used have to be a black-other but whoopee I get my very own box to tick now as forms now have a mixed-raced box! But then even that sometimes ends up complicated and you can be a mixed-race 'other'. But none of this has any thing to with nationality because green, pink, black, yellow I'm still British (but not English)!! :)

Why the poll anyway? Trying to establish the nationality that most likes a freebie! :)

No, I was just curious as I am a foreigner here myself and wanted to see where everyone comes from! Guess I didn't appreciate how complicated it would be for some, I was basically just curious about people's nationalities because I know I am not the only non-English person here! I didn't try to put people into boxes.

That made me smile as when I had my first daughter in Germany they used to address me as "The Foreign Lady in the end room", it used to make me laugh as there was no malice in it whatsoever but I know that I would be sacked for addressing a patient like that. :nono:

They now have on some NHS forms (from the government not a NHS directive) asking people their sexuality 8O
I really really don't see what your sexuality has to do with anything unless you're going for a job in the sex industry

ohhh this is all a bit heavy for a site that offers free film tickets...but I'm born and bred in London but having parents from Germany and Nigeria and not being the colour of the natives (and reminded of it when people address you with 'N' word and the 'P' word) means this will never really be my home land. So calling yourself English suggests you are a native and have some patriotism for England, which I don't!

Please get a grip and get a life !
It seems that Beate was only asking where people were born, you were born in England. You may not class yourself as English and you have the right not to, but you were born in England and as far as I can see that is the original question answered.
Don't go off on one about race, religion etc as this is not the site to do it. If you read Page 4, I thinks Biggins says it all.
