Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I really think the free theatre concert codes only thread should be as the title suggests i.e. codes only or something that requires getting tickets through a ticketing system on a first come first served basis asap or something that would otherwise have monetary value. .
It's really good to see loads of other free theatre / concerts / cultural stuff put on here but I must admit that I sometimes do get abit frustrated to receive two or three notifications within minutes of each other only to log on and find it's just information on some free show rather than a code or getting tickets straight away. Perhaps such posts can go on the Bargain Board or mentioned on this thread or have a thread of their own for people to subscribe to or even go on the London board?
Don't get me wrong, the posts are great and very informative but I personally don't think that it shouldn't be posted on the "codes only" thread. The codes only thread for me means free tickets for a show/concert that you would otherwise have pa*d for, not something that was free to begin with.
Similarly, if more tickets become available, please either post on this thread or PM anybody who has a "wanted" message for that particular show/concert alerting them more tickets are available. We don't post when more tickets become available on FF for a particular film has more tickets (infact we have a separate thread for that and there was a reason why that came about
) therefore the same rule should apply here too.

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
You know what a_p, I completely agree with you!
A few weeks ago I posted the news that All New People would have a free understudy show in the codes thread but only after careful consideration and asking around (and because it's a big West End show) but even then I felt it wasn't the right place for it.
Today my phone kept buzzing for new theatre alerts and 99% of the time they were duplicates ("more tickets available") or not even codes and could've easily been posted here (theatre discussion thread) instead. Furthermore, the non-code posts confused other people which then led to chat in the theatre codes thread and more buzzing from my phone as new email alerts came in.
Personally I find it a let down to receive an alert for anything but a coded event. Sure, even events that have a SFF code aren't always things I am interested in but the amount of non code posts (duplicates, chat, non-code free theatre) has increased a lot recently and the amount of alerts received for them can get quite annoying.
These posts could've easily been made in this thread instead and still be just as helpful and informative without sending out email alerts to everyone subscribed to the codes only thread.

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
There was today in reply to a non-code post asking how to get tickets (as it wasn't a post with a code).

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
Understudy performances are usually just walk in on the day, no advanced ticketing :)
