true its not so bad.


theres a wider range of talent in student productions. a few of the cast are corking enough to be in the west end, others are serial fluffsters who obviously shouldnt be anywhere near a stage.

it dont help that i have seen a lot of quality on stage recently. The cast of Malfi for instance are awesome in comparison, doing a great job with stifling georgian material, and no sentence is wasted! no offence if you are a student!

yorkshire man character and mr doughnut were good.

some of the other cast were appalling, but they are students, lets no forget that this is really a college level event, and i dont mean LAMDA. I have seen a lot worse student productions - medical school ones suck bigtime! hey have a habit at uni of giving major parts to the biggest cockmuncher in drama soc, rather than the most talented.....

I don't care if they're students or not, if they're charging £10 to get in (well, not to SFF members obvs) they deserve to be criticised the same as any other play out there.

yes i agree with the bad pricing, i just assumed that was a norm for student productions in london where all prices for everything from an aero bar to accomodation seem to be double what they are outside the M25. all our student plays (nottingham) cost less than a £5.

watching Malfi afterwards kinda magnifies the difference - Malfi cast members put more passion and skill into a single line than the entire repetoire of some of the Shadow Formula cast.

I'm just back from the Southbank. I saw 'Tumble Circus'. It was ok. Just two performers. Good at what they do and comical in parts, but nothing outstanding. They work the rope and balance on eachother!! Got me out the house for a couple of hours!!

yeah it was good for what they were. They did a bit of drama comedy too which was fun and gave these two oldies a breather from their antics.
