I think it's really hard to lose weight when the weather starts to get cold, as the temptation is to eat more to keep warm. So 'Well Done' Diane and Moggers for maintaining your weight in these trying times. o/

I've been doing the 'getting up at night to eat an extra snack' thing this week, so I'm fearing the worst on Wednesday (weighday) :tears:

I'm also struggling to whip up the enthusiasm to go for bike rides that I had a few weeks ago, when it was warm and pleasant . Even the ticking offs from Diane are largely failing to motivate me like they once would have.
I'm having to force myself out for a bike ride today because I know that if I don't go the weight will start to pile back on. The crazy thing is that I'll probably really enjoy it once I get going, it's just the thought of it beforehand. I'm going to try and get some more blackberries if there are any still around and also look for some elderberries to have a crack at Baty's sauce recipe.

Don't be disheartened MrG with that squash defeat - I know that it will strengthen your resolve to whip yourself back into shape mentally and physically, ready to climb your way to the top of the new league. o/

Be good everyone and enjoy your days whatever you are doing! :D

Now come on Preston1990 we'll have none of this lethargy carry on (says me who needs to get my act together). I too have been eating rubbish but today is a new day so let's get motivated together o/

Menu of the day:
Milkshake with a banana and strawberries (300 calories)
Beans on toast (250 calories) and a small apple (50 calories)
Veggie chilli (just taken it out of the freezer so can't work out which one it is as yet).

I will do my DVD later and possibly a walk depending on what time I finish work.

Good luck everyone and looking forward to hearing about your bike ride Preston1990 o/

Well, I did finally go out on my bike ride yesterday after much deliberation and 'should I, shouldn't I' o/

I did my regular 22 mile run. 11 miles there and 11 miles back. It normally would take me about an hour to complete the first 11 miles but yesterday it became apparent, long before the turn around point, that I was going to beat my time by a considerable margin. I reached the point in just under 50 minutes

I was feeling really pleased and inwardly congratulating myself on how fit I must have become o/ Then I turned the bike around and I started back. Almost immediately the reason for my speedy progress so far became apparent. I had actually been getting blown along by a considerable tail wind which I hadn't even noticed, but of course on the return journey was now a much more obvious head wind. Progress on the way back was slow and very tiring. Parts of the run almost required getting off the bike and just walking. I was even struggling to outpace joggers.

I stopped a couple of times to pick some blackberries and elderberries. The blackberries were still around but not in such profusion as they had been a couple of weeks ago. What was there was a bit more mushy as well, but still OK to mix in with porridge. It was the first time that I've picked elderberries. Thanks for the tip about using a fork, Baty It worked well o/

Going to go out again on the bike again today - I hope the wind has dropped a bit.

TODAY'S MENU

1. Porridge, skimmed milk, blackberries.

2. Salad leaves, celery, peppers, radishes, fresh fig, humous, chicken leg.

3. Seared tuna with potatoes and broccoli.

4. Ryvitas with marmite, Tea and toast.

Enjoy your days everyone! :D

Well done that is brilliant o/ I take it you're now at your target weight? :D

Preston1990 I'm mega impressed with you persevering even though you must have been exhausted (I know that you had no choice to get home but well done). I have maintained which I'm happy about due to not watching what I'm eating plus lack of exercise :nono:

I didn't move my body yesterday as on a course all day and then the cinema and now today going straight from work to a meeting and then a lecture so very little movement will be taking place today as I'm starting at 8am and won't finish until 9.30pm so no time to exercise

WooHoo - Well Done r33ceh :cheer: That's fantastic and just proves what can be achieved in a comparatively short time with just relatively small changes. o/

Awww, thanks Diane

:shifty: Now then Diane :nono: - "No time to exercise" indeed! 8O
We are made of tougher stuff up North and I'm sure that Biggins and Baty are still swimming and fishing ...
Let's have no more of this wussy defeatist talk - You could still fit a couple of hours exercise in before bedtime. :nono:  ;)

I'm happy to report that I've lost another 2 pounds this week - so all these bike rides seem to be doing the trick - despite succumbing to the odd indiscretion on the old food front.

Good luck to everyone else who is trying to lose weight. Whether you are attempting to do it by increasing the amount of exercise you do, or by a reduction in calories in your food intake, or even by a combination of both. o/ :D

Hey everyone. Just thought I'd drop in as I started my health kick yesterday and it's always good to talk about your progress I've noticed in the past, hoping to shed 2 stone, hopefully like to use the first stone by Nov or Dec. Weighed in yesterday at 14 Stone 7, had my first run yesterday, legs are stiff today. Not really following a particular diet just cutting out the rubbish for now (sweets, fizzy drinks, etc) and see where I go from here
