Just got back from The O2. As soon as the movie started I could not wait to get the hell out of there. Not because the movie was bad (it was OK) but because I found myself sitting next to the most irritating human being I've ever encountered in a movie theatre. He shook his leg violently for probably 75% of the movie, causing my entire seat (& probably the entire row) to shake as well. If anybody had been sitting behind me they would've thought I was having an epileptic fit. At several points throughout the movie I wanted to ask him if he had a medical condition, and if he did, to probably take it easy on the sugary, bladder-busting coke he was gulping. Instead I just veered my line of sight closer and closer towards his leg, so as to draw his attention to the source of the disturbance...to no avail of course. Thankfully this insanity came to a grinding halt during the last quarter of the movie, almost like clockwork in fact, which led me to believe that it definitely wasn't a medical condition.

Anyway, the movie was OK. Brendan Gleeson was fantastic in the role but it's the banter between him and Don Cheadle which was absolutely hilarious. Pity there wasn't much else. Once again, Empire's 5 star rating was misguided. "In Bruges" this most definitely was not.

BTW Did anyone notice the lens cover (3D polarisation device?) come off the projector about 30 minutes through? I wonder if Roger Ebert's article below has any bearing on this? This was not the first time the projectionists at The O2 had screwed up. Just like with "Larry Crowne", the entire right hand side of the screen was much duller than the left although this time perhaps not as noticeable.

Ebert's article: http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2011/05 ... light.html

Wimbledon wasn't very full though quite a few latecomers.

I was disappointed with the film though there were some funny moments. Felt like it could have been a TV pilot for a series though how many more crimes to solve there could have been in that part of Ireland I don't know. Still, there were an awful lot of murders in Midsomer ...

Or maybe the photo guy and the little boy could go on to have further adventures together.

I also stayed thru the credits hoping for some sharp denouement. Never mind!

Was at busy showing in Glasgow. Film was well received though more could have been made of some of the characters. Acting was good throughout. Some of the "non PC" lines were funny. I must admit I squirmed a little at times but was on the whole entertained. Ending not great and, like others, waited til the end in case more came ....nope! Could be a 2nd film will follow.....the Guard going to Wisconsin! Maybe watch this space!
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

I really enjoyed this. I know there was a lot of comments that will offend people.
But I really enjoyed it. I think it prob helps having Irish roots as a few of u seemed to not understand or need subtitles.
Some really funny quotes. Love the ones beate mentioned. And the one when Brendan was asking if he had any children. I don't wanna see a picture they all look the same. Unless u have a ugly child they look different I'll see that
My dad loved this film tho. He has been on the phone to his brothers and they are all going again when it is out in the cinema. !!

But why did they show a virgin media advert at the beginning of a sky preview??
