Firstly a big thanks to steve for getting my mother a very healthy looking Camelia she is delighted with it. I have just b*ght a couple of bright pink rhodedendrums from Home Bargains which were on offer for £3.99 which I am growing in a container (one for me and one for my mother), got my Lily of the Valley and Bleeding Heart soaking and have just planted out a campanula
https://www.google.co.uk/shopping/produ ... P4BEKYrMA0 (it was a pressie for the house from M&S but can't see why it won't grow outside).
Now I quite fancy growing some herbs and salad inspired by Preston1990 and ejwrank in something like this
https://www.google.co.uk/shopping/produ ... P4BEKYrMA0 (not that I can't bend purely because it would look nice outside the back door) could I grow it all together or am I best planting herbs separate from salad? This maybe a mad question so sorry if it is. I could do with a month of work to get it all done but then again I wouldn't appreciate it all if I did it all at once.
Looking forward to hearing about everybody's projects and that includes you steve

Don't know about project but seems I may have found new employment as a personal shopper.
Delighted to hear about your new post and I am pleased to offer the job to yourself on a permanent basis as you were so fabulous at it

Reading Preston1990's post just wondering which type of lettuce seeds you will you be b*ying as I don't want to be doubling up when we are swapping as I know that you love a bit of greenery

They are just hilarious along with the "Good gladioli its OK" one

And I have two large plants of rosemary -- one in a tub and one in a pot--these were presents given to me but one would be plenty. When the weather warms up I will grow some parsley, basil and maybe some dill. We used to have loads of rocket in our garden long before it got fashionable. It's gone now but I may try that again as I like it and I could save a bit of money.
I would think there is no problem growing your salad and herbs together but what do I know???
You are wonderful with lots of good ideas and I like the idea of growing the more invasive ones in separate pots I could pop plant pots in something like this
http://www.tkmaxx.com/garden+outdoor/sm ... en%20trugs (I know it's not designed for planting but I like it) as it will match my large trug that I want to b*y soon (along with a lot of other stuff but as they say Rome wasn't built in a day).

I have never heard of lemon balm but have just been reading up on salad recipes made with it so will have to look out for that herb.

Very smart trug!
No worries about not knowing about lemon balm -- it's not a lot of use but it grows easily like mint and nothing kills it off so I keep it going because it always cheers me up when something thrives. If you come to London I can give you some cuttings and it will produce roots if you stick it in some water when back home and then you can plant it in a pot outside.
Aren't you lucky to have your own personal shopper!

Thank you so much and I will be there in June if you're around. I do know that I am very lucky having a personal shopper and would send him down to collect it but I wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to catch up and possibly have a coffee and cake.

Wonderful and thank you so much.
Looking forward to growing some and it will be more special as it is from ejwrank's garden.

I take it that we have all been having a relaxing week ready for a weekend of gardening. Well yesterday I went to the Kensington Roof Gardens and I am more inspired than ever it is simply sublime

The Tudor Garden is the look I'm aiming for

no harm in aiming high

They actually have my garden bench plus my table there (my table is a heck of a lot smaller but exactly the same top) but painted - I'm too scared to paint it in case I make a mess of it.
On another note I am trying to find a perennial plant which has sage green leaves and small white flowers but can't find it anywhere and don't know it's name. It is for ground cover and will drape over the edge of a border but not enough to have as a trailing plant. If anybody knows it I will be eternally grateful

The leaves are almost spidery but do have some form. I had it previously in my garden until the massacre happened

Hi Diane, do you mean 'snow onthe mountain'' , a plant that has a spreading habit, with white flowers?
