go to the film museum - possibly my favourite museum in the world
its hidden away in the pretty vondelpark and as well as showing films they have a really good changing exhibtion for about 3 euro

van gogh mususem is nice but pricey and big queues (same for anne frank museum) i much prefer the Rijksmuseum
the bulldog is a cheapish bar right in the centre
Heineken Experience was closed last time we went dunno if its reopened yet
dont go to the ice bar its not worth it or the marijuana museum

I know you said no comments about drink.. but there is a fab bar called "The Bulldog".. it has a shop attached and also a hotel.. real nice set up, even if you dont go in they have little fun guides and maps of things to do, its about 1 street along from the main red light canal (have one of the maps in the house if you want me to scan it in for you and mail it to you, or just give you the address). Also The Old Sailor is pretty good to watch the world go by.... Sorry I have no more information than the bar names but we get the boat over and are only normally there for about 4 hours!

Is there anything worth doing in Malta apart from lying in the sun?

I know there are roman ruins and templar sites - worth a visit?

someone told me they thought you could get a ferry to sicily to see Mount Etna - this seems a long way for a day trip to me but I'm no geographer......
