Could someone please explain this book giver scheme? It sounds interesting but I know nothing about it.
I'm quite excited as I've just ordered the new William Nicholson (Motherland) - from the library, I hasten to add. I don't normally read historical fiction but I've absolutely loved all his contemporary novels, set near the Sussex coast (so extra resonance for me as I know the area from walking it), and this new one is apparently a sort of prequel, set in WW2, so worth taking a chance on.

It's World Book Night. 20,000 people in the UK get 20 copies of their chosen title (out of a selection) to give away.
It's been running for 3 years now and I've participated each time (I even volunteered at the publisher organising it in their first year as they were so overwhelmed by the response). It's too late to apply for 2013 as they just contacted all givers, but you can subscribe to the newsletter so you're in a (big) chance to participate next year:

I used to be an avid reader, read so much, my library ran out of books (that was when I was 10 and they sent me to the adult's library!), but now I spend most of my time watching films!
