Re: Holiday Thread
I was in Cambridge at the beginning of 2010 and it was just beautiful. It had snowed lightly and later settled and it just looked amazing!

Re: Holiday Thread
I was just looking at a map this morning to see what is close enough to London to go to on a weekend day to see more of the UK and Cambridge didn't look very far. Do you reckon it's doable in a day? (by train perhaps) And if so, what did you like most? (besides the snow, I was thinking on going in August and snow might be a bit too much to ask for)evilzadi wrote:I was in Cambridge at the beginning of 2010 and it was just beautiful. Thanks :)

Re: Holiday Thread
I did yes thanks havingascreen. We plan do to lots of walking as I totally agree, best way to see the sights :-)
I am going with my partner.... and we're staying in the Ludovisi – Sallustiano’s district Diane. Apparently according the hotels website, we're not far from the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, which are about 10 mins walk away.
I got this particular deal through The Evening Standard's weekly newsletter.http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/readeroffers.do then scroll down a bit under the bit of saying travel. There is a specific bit about deals on Rome.

Re: Holiday Thread
Have a great time, mm and I'm sure others here such as Diane65, Yogi and co could give you some good tips.
I've been meaning to go back for years and so far have managed only a work trip this March, but the city had been totally transformed since my student days and what I saw made me even more eager. Manchester seemed to me more like a European city (maybe it was the trams?) than an English one and the regeneration is phenomenal.

Re: Holiday Thread
How fab, just tell me what types of places you like to visit and I'll get any info you need. Cowboys and Aliens is on on the 16th at The Trafford Centre (you can get there on your day metro ticket) so would be good if you could get tickets for that steve will be there and his OH, they are both lovely. Heaton Park is lovely, Media City is worth having a look at, if you are happy on public transport with day ticket on the Metro you could do media city, Heaton Park and the city centre. How are you getting here? I'm in Italy when you're here but if you're leaving late on the 18th would love to meet up before you go (thats if you want to and have the time). If you want any information etc I'm happy to help.marjoreemarjora wrote:Heading off to sunny Manchester![]()

Re: Holiday Thread
Thanks Diane, will have a look tonight at the media city, sounds interesting. Need to find out where our hotel is as not in the city centre but near a tube/metro or something. Coming by car so should make it a bit easier to get out and about. Thanks for your thoughts folks.
