Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Amazing. Saw this at the O2 Greenwich and surprised to see still seats available. Especially with all the activity on this website I would have thought that this film was a must see.
Wow, amazing and Epic in scale. If you know anything about the Batman world then there are not too many surprises to this film but it is still a roller coaster of a ride of a film. A great conclusion to a trilogy and tying up some loose ends and references to the previous two films too.
After seeing the preview earlier this year I was worried about Tom Hardy's voice. It was so muffled then. They say they have not corrected the sound but it sure sounded clearer today though a few words were muffled.
10/10
You must go and see it!!!!!!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
This was brilliant, loved every minute, although Tom Hardy was difficult to hear what he was saying at times, his voice was good for the role
9/10

A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"
A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Absolutely loved it although I would have been quite happy if they'd cut the end by 5 minutes :) Glasgow IMAX was about 80% full, they cleaned up Bane's voice since the 9 minute preview which made me very happy. Plus I got to meet a wee crowd of fellow FMUK'ers which is always brilliant! 9/10 for me.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
There was empty seats in Portsmouth, they were at the front though, maybe they did this deliberately?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
At Uxbridge, they definitley mismanaged the timing of the previous film playing at the IMAX screen and let people wait around till almost 7pm with no red carpet footage, disappointing, however the film was excellent and a nice way to end the trilogy.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
such a damp squib.
had re-watched first 2 movies prior to seeing this. possibly a mistake.
what was the point of bane ? total non-entity.
batman movies are nothing without a great villian & bane wasn't one.
5/10, barely.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Saw this at Swiss Cottage
This was a pretty good movie, but i felt the structure and flow of scenes and plot was incredibly messy. The biggest example of bad story structure and flow was
at the end during the Bomb ticking down. The bomb went from: "30 min, 10 min, 10 min, 10 min, 5 min, 3 min, 2 min, 2 min" While a ton of stuff was happening inbetween that should've had an impact. And then Catwoman kissing Batman which was the equivilant of the marriage scene in Pirates 3 during the final battle. Very poor timing when theres 1 minute til death and he needs every second he can get. It just broke the flow even though it was trying to "break the tension with deepness"
. I just felt like things happened and thats it. Dialogue being used as pure exposition instead of flowing naturally (E.g: "Give me what i want?" "The slate....the clean slate. Type in your name and date of birth and you can erase anyone". Even though she knows what she wanted). I also didn't feel like most of the characters had any sense of arc or progression. Catwoman certainly did though as she had more of a journey and having situations and events affecting her perspective which was great, however reducing her into a love interest just felt forced and archaic to me and didn't feel natural based on her character (unless ofcourse its for show, which it certainly wasn't by the end). Every other character didn't get that in a fitting way, or a way where its progressed and we actually see the emotional transformation
The whole thing with
Batman faking his death
was poorly handled and suffered from the films poor storytelling structure, even if the story itself was really great (it was just built incredibly weak). I just felt like this movie was a collection of scenes. The scenes themselves were great, the spectacle was stunning and Bane was incredibly intimidating, but trying to fit all of those scenes together just made it messy and i feel more work was needed. Also was it me or was the sound mixing completely messy. Music completely overflowing the dialogue so some important lines couldn't be heard very well. Yeah it needed work.
6.5/10

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
sort of agree with sunny,
it was good but not great.
swiss cottage around 80% full with security checking ID.
screen was very good and they showed live event from leicester square.
bane was tricky to understand at times and the sound was a little too loud to hear the voices sometimes.
overall a good solid final to the trilogy.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
saw this at wimbledon about 80% full, my first film in a yr (been really busy and of this forum - so a big hello to everyone)
we loved it and i actually worked out the ending 1/2 way in. A big twist - which i guessed at the last moment. a great film to get back into the swing of things
