:( Great legend. He was always humble about his achievements, hardly did any interviews but he was special. Love the stories Buzz and co tells about him, and his foolhardy bravery. RIP

Neil Armstrong RIP. I remember everyone being glued to the tv to watch the historic landing. It was indeed a giant leap for mankind and for the crew of Apollo 11. In fact, we got colour tv at that time too!

very sad news for all the sci-fi buffs and geeks. I often wonder how he coped with the adulation he received (he will be the first person to set foot on a surface that wasnt Earth, EVER, which is something that will resonate through history even in the future whenever we reach some new planet. Did he take any of his observations and thoughts of his visit with him to the grave? I expect he wasnt an imaginative sort, being a headstrong test pilot nutter type, but he must have felt something so very unique about the landing that he couldnt perhaps put into words, that noone might ever feel again. Also wonder if they will play anything moon related at his funeral?

Just some thoughts on an ordinary guy who took the most extraordinary step so far for a human.
