New legislation up here prevents giving away alcohol. It apparently encourages binge drinking!canadian_turtle wrote:Barcardi are giving away 20,000 bottles of Barcardi Cuba Libre or Mojito

You'd notice the difference if you go into a supermarket up here. They are only allowed to sell alcohol in the alcohol aisles for example, in England you see the special offers on aisle ends or near the doors etc. Pub quiz prizes, they give you a carry out as a prize but won't give you a drink tab to use in the pub. Happy hours are banned and the like. It came into force last year at some point. I'm pretty sure it makes no difference. The Scottish Government are now trying to bring in minimum pricing for alcohol per unit!

Re: Freebies
Free £30 Premier League goals app
What: Free 'ESPN Goals' app Get by: Ongoing
How: Download free from the right app store for your phone. From the Apple App Store and Android Market now. It'll be available on BlackBerry App World, Nokia and Windows Phone 7 in the next few days. More info on the ESPN Goals website.
What do you get? A free ESPN app for smartphones to watch EVERY Premier League football goal on your phone wherever you are, for free. It normally costs £30/year, so this is a huge discount.
The detail: Clips of goals from every game will be available within minutes of the live action, except goals scored on Saturdays between 2.45pm and 5.15pm. These will be available from 5.15pm on Saturday evening.
MSE Archna says:
ESPN has ditched the usual £30/season or £3/month cost of this app, making it free for the 2011/12 Premier League season (starts this Sat 13 Aug).
Warning! Watching videos can eat into your data allowance and usage beyond that can be very pricey, so try to use a free wi-fi hot spot (or your home broadband) if possible - see the Free Wireless Internet guide.
Though not quite the same as watching your favourite footy team on a 42" plasma, those that don't want to shell out for ESPN (or Sky Sports) can download the app for free and watch every goal of the 2011/12 season for nothing.
