I've only recently made the move from Nokia to Apple and it's been brilliant. Firstly, I no longer get lost (I travel to lots of new and unusual spots in London, having GPS is a godsend when you have 7 minutes remaining and none of the bloody streets seem to have names!) and secondly, the fitness apps have really helped me get some control back over my health. I react well to facts, figures and graphs, and my smartphone can create those for me. If you have a similar mindset, you'll love a smartphone.

Very glad you made it through the cooking all in one piece, Preston1990. I've heard of living dangerously, but not in conjunction with vegetables.

My best friends have seen me at my thinnest and my fattest, and they have always gone for positive reinforcement, i.e. talking about my weight only when I've lost it and look good. ;) If the scales say you're overweight, or at the top end of your healthy weight and you don't feel comfortable, keep losing weight. It's about finding the place which feels right to you.

I'm never going to be skinny, but the top end of healthy is where I feel most comfortable, so I'm heading for that. Diane65, I'm surprised you've had such negative comments from someone you've known a long time (if she is right and you're half the size you think you are, I'm sure the Manchester crew would have staged an intervention, so if you say you need to lose some more, I believe you). I don't suppose you've been at your biggest for the majority of time she's known you, and it's change that is unsettling her, rather than intending to be hurtful? People are funny creatures.

I don't track calories spent traipsing around the shops, but I always end up knackered baty, so I'm sure you do burn more than you think. Any kind of movement is better than none - even just fidgeting is better than lying down watching tv!

I have avoided the JL cake and coffee vouchers thus far but I do not blame you one bit for treating yourself, ejwrank. A little of what you fancy does you good. o/

I weigh myself every day to track the fluctuations, and better understand the impact of what I'm putting into my poor body. This week, I had one really bad day where I was so upset I only ate 200 calories, and you know what, whilst my weight plummeted overnight, it then went back up and plateaued for days. It didn't matter that I was eating normally and exercising, it took most of the week to convince my body I wasn't going to deprive it of nutrients every day and for my weight to stabilise.

I do therefore think there's something in this 'starvation theory' - if you haven't eaten very much and know you're really under your calorie allowance, do force yourself to graze on a few things.

Is it because you're not really hungry, or too busy to stop and make something?

I keep a stash of WeightWatchers cakes, because they're only around 90 calories each, individually wrapped, taste nice, and I'm guaranteed to be in the mood for one of them at all times. Hard fruit like apples tend to keep for a while, so they're something you can have lying around just in case. I also like the Heinz squeeze and stir soups because they taste nice, are one of your five-a-day, you can stick them in a drawer for months, and it's just a case of boiling some water in a kettle, not having to put a pan on the hob.

Coffee is very much a part of my lifestyle too, I'll back you all the way on excessive consumption there! I can't believe how late in life I started drinking it. o/

Plan for today: have to go for a long walk, apparently my total miles for the week are far lower than last week! Can't be having that, eh?
Yeah just too busy yesterday, I love food! lol especially all the bad stuff. I dont like salads but love veg, well some of it! I'm just a plain eater, there is a lot of stuff i have never tried purely cos 'I dont like the look/smell of that!' I tried chilli con carne when we were in Glossop and carrot cake, was quite happy with just the tattie and cheese and thought oh why not eh lol. I drink a lot of water too although it has to be macb and not tap water lol........see fussy! I am missing the gym this weekend as going on a family picnic tomorrow, hopefully its just as nice tomorrow as it was today! o/ Trying out the boxing gym on Monday, it will probably be a one off :X lol.

I hope your walk went well o/

I can assure you that I do need to lose the weight as also just hanging on by the skin of my teeth within the normal weight range and my build is best between a BMI of 22 and 23 as need a bit of meat on me for fat store for exercise.

Chelle1973 I do the complete opposite and try anything which is where my problem lies

Thanks Baty and it is the only thing that she is negative about with me as she is usually exceptionally complimentary. Sorry to hear about your so called friend Baty. Just been looking a holiday photos from last year and I look healthier with just the one chin.

Today i had coffee for breakfast, lunch and dinner...and have only just had cheese on toast...(no lectures please lol) I eat better on other days! However i go to the gym at least three times a week, I used to have runkeeper(its fantastic!) but my phone doesnt have enough memory to install it again grrr. I also do zumba once or twice a week. Any kind of exercise is good as long as it gets the heart pumping and the blood flowing o/

P.S You better get ya butt into gear MrG for that half marathon ;)
Welcome on board Chelle1973 and I know that you are super fit and trim but a healthy balanced diet is so important for long term health - I'm not lecturing you but concerned re your lack of food as one of my friends who is very similar to yourself in build and exercise wise had a minor injury which took forever to heal due to her depleted diet. Get posting your exercise tips then we can feed of each other.

Every bone in my body is aching today after the exercise DVD and yet another mammoth gardening session - I think it is the digging up tree roots again that has done it but now have a very pretty Kilmarnock willow tree in my front garden. Still have a long way to go on the gardening front but with some hard work it will be worth it plus plenty of exercise :D We could do with a gardening thread as I don't really know what I'm doing just being guided by 2 friends who happen to be amazing gardeners. :D
A gardening thread would be great! I have a huge garden now and a driveway, both are a mess! I don't know where to start......well i do, the grass needs cut for one but i don't own a lawnmower and even then i don't have a shed to keep that in. I may have to hire a grasscutter at some point! I am looking forward to doing some work in there...eventually, but it will all be new to me.

I like to try most things too. :D

I think there's something special about eating something completely new as an adult - I mean, most of the new flavours come when you're toddling around as a child. You think you've run out of new tastes and then, boom, not Preston1990's kitchen exploding but a new flavour for your palette.

I have a wedding to go to in a few weeks which the happy couple have informed me will involve eating an insanely decadent amount of food, so I'm being extra good now in advance. I am going to enjoy all the different cake! o/

I like to try new / different foods too Asamaic, trouble is, OH is a very good cook and I have little willpower :D
I am always shamed by Diane's energy and I could just picture Prestons' wok dash :D

Ok, good start this morning, did my Spark people youtube exercises, had ONE cup of tea and a carton of pureed mango and apple.

Going to a brocant - car boot sale, for a bit of a hobble and will not have alcohol 8O with my sausage and chips. The chips are those thin fluff things so I feel sure that there is little bulk being added to my form.

Tonight OH is making a spag bol and I am determined to be on portion control :D

On the gardening thing chelle, maybe on our next meet up we could also bring seeds for the swap, what do you think?
