Re: Weight Watchers
OFF TOPIC
Mr G thought about you the night before last - no,no not in that way! OH and I went for an evening stargazing at Keilder Observatory and saw Mars, Jupiter and some M?? spiral nebulae type things through a range of pretty impressive telescopes. Also had lectures on the northern lights and a demonstration of free software called Stellarium. I assume you know of it? Very clear skies (not a cloud in the sky) _ v impressive and v enjoyable.

Re: Weight Watchers
Ok preston and MrG will be having a go at the picture thing later. MrG, I hàve marvellous clear skies here, can see the stars so clear. Sometimes it is warm and sunny but the nights are cold and crisp. Had my medicated nap this afternoon and missed most of the sun. OH has been busy and made a movable stand for a big pot (yet to be found) so that is on the brocont list. Feel guilty about sleeping. Feel like a slacker.
OH about to cook, such a lucky girl.

Banish that guilt, baty and get yourself fully recovered. And enjoy the supper! As for luck, I think you deserve every bit of it!

Re: Weight Watchers
I couldn't agree more and have to confess to some really bad posture as wanted to get my last bed (a small one that I had planted some grasses in which have gone wild and don't fit in) prepared so have been doing major digging yet again getting rid of half dead plants and roots (due to OH) and I am my own worst enemy as I know that I should stretch out and take regular breaks but really struggle to stop half way through a job but will regret it if I don't and end up with an injuryTheyCallMeMrGlass wrote:I saw you're new gardening thread with Ms Thrifty...you might get some calorie burning with that methinks :) BUT watch your postures in gardening, I see some bad form of back crouching with gardeners. Often its unavoidable depending on what kind of tools you use. I think having long forks to knead compost etc from an upright position helps. Its important to always engage your core and keep a straigth back as much as possible, bend the knees, pivot by the hips but try not curve the back.
Also, dont be caught in a repetitive position for too long. Take breaks, keep stretching out at regular intervals and down wait for it to hurt, the whole point is avoiding it hurting in the first place.
And uh enjoy your gardening :)
That can be my exercise of the day but do need to do the toning DVD rather than manual labour. Nag me on either thread if I get carried away.
Listen to ejwrank Baty and enjoy being looked after as you certainly need to rest and get yourself better.ejwrank wrote:Banish that guilt, baty and get yourself fully recovered. And enjoy the supper! As for luck, I think you deserve every bit of it!

I will try and put up newer pics shortly. Remember I am battling meds and wine!!
Re: Weight Watchers
Well done to you baty on all the home improvements. We are totally DIY hopeless so admire all that you are doing!
Friends we knew from Zambia (that was 30 years ago we realised which must us all gasp) came to tea at the last minute so I had to bake a cake to make it just like old times when we had grand tea parties (often with 4 or 5 dessert offerings) in our African garden. I only made one lemon cake today and only had a small slice to be sure it was edible.
Now to you Ms Diane65 -- I am thoroughly exhausted by all your garden exploits but suggest you start to carry a timer with you that will beep after a certain period so that you don't throw your back out. I also hate not to finish a job but if you mess up your back that would be a disaster for future gardening work.
Loved the picture of the 5 cats, Preston. Really made me smile!

Re: Weight Watchers
Thanks ewrank. The pics are a couple of yrs old but it was to give you a little bit of the work done/to be done. We are trying to balance cost of improvements verses overall costs. If you are not careful you can spend too much and never be able to re-coup the costs. We have seen people get caught like this already. We know it is a holiday home for us and all the he children, so spend accordingly. It's always nice for the extras....like heat.

I'm certainly impressed by a home made lemon cake
Good idea re the bleeper as if I do put my back out it ends up being a long job getting it or worse still a constant niggle - I;m sure that we all know of someone who has to watch their back and I don't want to be one of them especially when it would be due to my own stupidity.
