Thanks for the splendid insight into the nature of galaxies Mr G. Your enthusiasm for the subject shines out like a veritable supernova through your words. :D
Thanks also for the link to your astronomical photo gallery. I'm absolutely blown away with the shots that you've taken. I'm sufficiently aware of the difficulties in taking those types of photos to appreciate the skill and determination, not to mention expensive kit, that must have gone into getting them. There's some absolute corkers amongst them especially the Mars and Jupiter ones. And :noo: .......isn't that a shot of "Aries Minor" that you have right at the end? :P

Seriously though, I'm thinking that what FMUK needs to go with its newly created and very popular "gardening thread" is an "amazing space and astronomy facts" type of a thread. I'm sure that we are not the only two here who would welcome that .......and even if we are.......damn it - let's have a one anyway. What do you think? :D

Amazing fact 1. (In response to your photo of a plane of orbiting the sun) Did you know that it would take 19 years to reach the Sun by jumbo jet if you travelled for 24 hours a day.

Go for it Preston1990 and MrGlass as the Manchester FMUKers are going for a glamping weekend in the lakes in August stargazing organised by CLXO - it was his idea honestly ;) So will be much better if we are suitably educated before we go.

Well another weigh-day has come around for me once again.

I appear to have yo-yo ed my way back to losing a rather lack-luster one pound this week. :noo:

Even more disappointingly, my digital scales were hovering between flagging up "a one pound loss" and a "you're just the same as last week" scenario.

As they were seemingly struggling to settle and actually decide and make the call, I have taken the executive decision for them and will be claiming the one pound loss, as it makes me feel (slightly) better.

More effort, vegetables and water required ;)

Hi all fellow WW FMUKers!

Sorry for the distinct lack of involvement recently. I've been creeping around and reading posts but not contributing much.

I've had a bit of a setback recently with an old stomach complaint from years ago flaring up but hopefully, back on track soon enough!

At least it's not going up, Preston1990. You're still winning! o/ Just means there's room for improvement. ;)

Hi John Milton! o/ Hope your health settles soon, it's the most important thing.

So, I think I may be over the dreaded plateau... This week's definitive weigh in isn't until Sunday, but the scales finally shifted this morning after 5 days of being nearly flat for no reason. If it goes back up tomorrow due to today being a blip, I shall be disappointed. I've been ever so good!

A question for all you WWers. If you know you have a bad food day coming up (big event, special occasion, etc), do you adjust your diet before/after to try and mitigate it, or do you just focus on getting back on the wagon afterwards? Not this weekend but next, I will be gaining a stone overnight...

I focus on getting back on the wagon afterwards as trying to negate the effects likely won't do much, and those bad food days may help you get out of your plateau as it shakes up your diet a bit.

Hello I hope everyone is okay :D o/ :D

After de-motivating myself completely a little while ago. I started my healthy eating again about a week ago. I went to the gym after having a little sabbatical. I wanted to test my foot which has been a problem since 2/3/14, so I did a 4km run on the running machine - it went bright and breezy so I'm doing my Edinburgh Perfect 10 - a 10 mile run around the city on Sunday. I shall be slow as I've missed nearly 40 training sessions trying to heal de darn foot. But I will get that finishers medal :D :D

I weighed in also - my last one was about two to three weeks ago I think - I am bang on 14 stone today. So, I have 14 weeks to loose 14 pounds - starting now :cross: :cross:

I have been using the bike for 50% of my bus journeys around the city. I hope to get to about 90% but I shall see. I am planning a little cycle the week after my OU end of year exam in June. I will attempt John 'O' Groats to Carter's Bar on the Scot/Eng border. I'm going to take it easy but It should take 1 week from North to South and back up to Edinburgh again. So, I have a fair bit of distance cycling to try and put in before I go in preparation.

I hope everybody else is doing well :D :cross: :D

Cheery bye everyone :D

Wow, what a recovery, stone_monkey. Best of luck with the run. o/

I have left the dreaded plateau (thank goodness, i want to keep on track as much as possible before the wedding weekend). o/

I'm pleased to say I've adapted to eating less, and I've been out loads with friends. Pizza Express is amazing in terms of getting fed properly and yet not going over your calorie allowance. I wish more restaurants were as transparent with their nutritional information and had as many healthy choices. Food is such a social activity and trying to be healthy shouldn't have to get in the way of that.

Continuing a theme, I am out at shows all weekend, so plenty of walking to and from venues. Getting my last theatre fix before the dreaded tube strike... Still, it might be an opportunity for more walking when the stations are shut. Wow - when did I get so glass half full? Eating well really does wonders for your positivity as well as your waist. o/

What have you been up to, Diane65? Never too late to get back on the wagon. You know you love it really!

I have not been on a scales for a couple of weeks but can feel that the news will not be good when I step on them on Monday.
All my own fault, I do love my food. As people are saying, get 'back on that wagon' and into a routine of small frequent meals.
