It will be lovely to have our chats again.andrews wrote:I will be a regular contributor to this thread in the New Year.
I got on the scales this morning and I'm back to square 1 cry: I'm so annoyed with myself.
2014 has been a bit of a personal challenge for me hence turned to food - I don't know if I was comfort eating/time factor or a bit of both. Its a long story but in a nutshell I was down banded at work (loads of us not just me) I contracted Leigionnaires in Morocco (hence couldn't exercise for a while) and OH has been in hospital since 9th September and still there. Hence now in the habit of living on chocolate/biscuits as going straight from work to hospital then eat rubbish on the way home as 8.30pm when I get in. Now as off for over a week I can get myself sorted mentally.
We've got FMUKcon in March so that can be my target to get in shape. Just reading my Woman's Fitness magazine courtesy of Betty Botter plus I got a lovely kitchen herb garden book for Christmas so lots of delicious healthy recipes in there so now in a positive frame of mind. I'm going to enjoy myself food wise until the New Year plus eating chocolate/goodies for pleasure (I've got a box of Matchmakers to enjoy while watching Downton Abbey on catch up this afternoon

Re: Weight Watchers
Thanks, Diane65 and ejwrank!
Kept the momentum up today. I'm at my girlfriend's parents house in a sleepy wee village so don't have access to much kit. I improvised and used a local playpark so I could do the following:
Pull ups/ chin ups.
Decline push ups.
Hanging sit ups.
Dips.
Lunges.
Ab roll outs using the swing!
Not ideal but better than nothing, especially with the amount of food and drink I hammered yesterday!

Re: Weight Watchers
Having increased my weight by 22 lbs and still counting, during my absence from this thread, I could have written all of the above myself!!Diane65 wrote:It will be lovely to have our chats again........andrews wrote:I will be a regular contributor to this thread in the New Year.

I'm really looking forward to meeting up with both old and new friends on here come January.
The synergy is going to be awesome

Enjoy the rest of Christmas and New Year everyone!

Re: Weight Watchers
In a very similiar position to John Milton. What with being horrendously busy with work and, well, let's face it, "other work" (this reviewing malarkey is a full time job in itself), I need to lose at least half a stone. Ideally a whole one.
I also have a new fella to fit in (I saw new, it's the same one I mentioned last time I posted), so I'm going to have to be hard on myself and plan days off so I can have some proper time with him, go to the gym, cook... 7 days? Just not enough in one week.
My planned flat p*rchase fell through - turns out it's a death trap. Had hoped to see the New Year in in my own place, but had I b*ght the damn place, the walls would probably have collapsed around me. Trying to look at it as a luck escape, but so frustrating.
After being told by my mother that I've got too fat again, I weighed myself (which is how I know I need to lose at least half a stone!) and went for a run in the rain. I think for 2015, I'm not going to log my food, but I am going to make sure I do regular exercise again. From past experience, if I get back into running, I should be able to eat the kind of food I want to. I certainly can't keep eating and doing naff all.
Suspect the boys from work will be up for another 5k, so I need to get in shape for that.
I'd like to get back into cooking. My ex took all the good kitchen stuff (one of the many lame reasons I've used to justify dining out so much), but I can b*y more stuff. And I did use to enjoy cooking. Taking advantage of being at my folks' by taking photos of my favourite recipes from my mum's cook books.
This isn't a resolution - because those always fail - but 2015 is going to be the year I get my life sorted out. I'm mostly there, but there's room for improvement.

Re: Weight Watchers
Comforting to read here that it's not only me who's put on weight in 2014!! I need to lose around 3 stone. Seems a hell of a lot. It's hard with a health condition and reduced mobility which means exercise is difficult, but I need to certainly eat healthier!

Welcome to the "must try harder" boat. I think we're all in it...! Let's make 2015 our year. It's nearly here already...ClareBarr wrote:Comforting to read here that it's not only me who's put on weight in 2014!! I need to lose around 3 stone. Seems a hell of a lot. I've got over 2 stone to lose so it will be a long journey for me too. I do understand that it is a different ball game with health condition but as asamaic says we're all in it together.asamaic wrote:Welcome to the "must try harder" boat. I think we're all in it...! I could actually eat while visiting at the hospital so will need to take healthy food with me. I don't know why it has never entered my head to do it before

2015 is going to be a good year.

Re: Weight Watchers
That's the stuff, Diane65, weight loss is all about planning... When you're out all day without a plan, you grab whatever you can get (and it's never healthy!) and you find you have no time to work out. If you know you're not going to make it home for something calorie-controlled, absolutely, taking food with you is the way to go. I need to take a leaf out of your book.Diane65 wrote: I've got over 2 stone to lose so it will be a long journey for me too. I don't know why it has never entered my head to do it beforeI'm all there organising fish and chip suppers, cake evenings etc (I run across to the local chip shop etc) on the ward to keep a happy atmosphere (we have Saturday night as party night ha ha - I did ask I haven't just gone in bossing everyone around). So there is no reason why I wouldn't be allowed to eat my dinner there (it will have to be something to microwave or a cold meal).
2015 is going to be a good year.
January is going to be horrifically busy at work, but we do have a fridge, kettle and microwave, so I need to keep some healthy food in for those evenings when I can't get away til really late.
Let's all try to keep posting - I think the lesson from 2014 is when we go silent, we're falling off the wagon and staying off. The more we say how we're doing (even if it's to admit being naughty), I think the more we're likely to succeed.

Why is it so much easier to eat unhealthy food, it's not fair!!
Diane65, where will fmukcon be in March?
