If anyone went to Othello Syndrome tonight, I'd love to hear a) how long it is and b) if it's any good or not.

(I'm very tired, if it's not amazing, I might sack off my ticket for tomorrow.)
Preferred cinemas:
Vue West End, Cineworld Haymarket, Odeon West End, Odeon Leicester Square, Empire Leicester Square, Cineworld O2, Cineworld Shaftesbury Avenue and Odeon Panton Street, followed by anywhere in central(ish) London.

I did not go, but according to the information on Audience Club it is 2 hours with an interval.

I went last night in the end - it overran hideously.

Bits of it were quite good, but it's been adapted to include an angry feminist. None of her cause is bad, but I am sick of companies hijacking plays and throwing in political rants.

I am sure you can bring out the 'domestic violence' aspects - particularly in a modern setting - without introducing new characters.

Well I loved it. 'Hijacking' a play is entirely proper if you've got something worthwhile to say about. I think saying it's a "rant" is a bit small minded and dismissive to be honest. A refreshing twist on the material.

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree about me being "small-minded", because I am very much in favour of women's rights, but I think the director did her best to ruin that play. I think if you have a cause, you should show that through your art form, not by sticking in a running commentary. I thought the majority of the cast were very strong, but the director was downright distracting.

Here's a less positive review (not mine), 2.5 stars from The Public Reviews: http://www.thepublicreviews.com/othello ... re-london/

I don't think there is any need to call someone 'small minded and dismissive' on here, LondonCityNights. I think asamaic is fully entitled to her opinion on this, just as you are entitled to the same, and you should be more respectful.

"Play nice or I'll take away the toys!" How often did we hear that when growing up?
I wish we had more chance to see free theatre in Glasgow but at least we do manage to get a number of shows on the 2 for 1 ATG site. o/
