I know this sounds fairly selfish but some days my head just seems to spin and before I know another day has passed!
Not selfish at all - if you find the time to relax, you'll feel less stressed out and will be a better care giver to your family. So really, if you manage to have a nice long soak for an hour with a good book, you're doing it for them, not you. :p

asamaic's right you know!!
Hear! Hear! It is not selfish at all. If you are too tired or your health suffers, you can't be any good to anyone. I am in a similar situation to you destresserai, you are not alone, but I only have one parent (who has Alzheimer's) and some days, I do feel like crying, as nothing goes right, and only because I am too tired to carry on, but once I have a good sleep, and make time for myself, everything looks much better, so it is good to have that 'me-time'! That is how I cope. ;)

Fingers crossed that you stick to your resolutions. At least in part. At least one.
I don't make any for New Year. I figure if I want to change something, it's best to start here and now and not set a start date, because in the past that start date would just get pushed back once, twice, a gazzilion times and things would never actually get past the planning stage.

How can you say I'm bossy? I did allow you to look in one shop window when we went shopping after the cinema on Friday plus everyone was allowed one toilet break on our Manchester day out. ;)

Need to get organising the London trip when the Manchester FMUKers meet up with the London FMUKers and anyone else who is able to join us. :D

better not be any of this over the best seats

1)Meet MsThrifty and meet up again with my lovely friends on here plus new ones.
2) De-clutter my paperwork and cupboards.
3)Stay under 10 stone (I will weigh myself today and have a feeling I will be more than that with all my eating of late - so maybe get under 10 stone) and keep up with the exercise which I have lapsed of of late (done 2 lots this weekend so a start)
4) Read a book at least every 2 months (I don't mean the studying sort).
5)Visit Cologne, Florence, Venice and Lille (I will need to do some serious saving/working to achieve all this)
6)Save up for a new car (if mine still works I won't be replacing it but need some car funds for when the time comes).

We will all achieve our goals with support from each other and sheer determination o/ Even achieving one is a positive o/
I get a bit carried away with mine
Well it's that time of year again and time to reflect on the past year. I know that lots of people don't make resolutions but as I have so many places I want to see, things I want to learn and people I want to meet I need to set goals otherwise it doesn't happen - I know that lots of you are a lot more motivated than myself hence I need to set targets.

Last year I managed to visit all the places I wanted, got my new car and met up with lots of you. My failures of last year were not meeting MsThrifty, the weight issue and lack of reading of books so will be added to this years list.

1) Visit Morocco, Switzerland and New York.
2)Meet MsThrifty, Moviemann and up again with lots of people I've already met.
3)Get rid of my excess weight and get healthy again.
4)Need to decide on what new skill I would like to learn (I'm thinking of teaching myself to play either the keyboard or guitar - have both but can't play either) or improve on French or German which are now diabolical :Embarrassed:
5)I will start reading again.

Has anyone else made any and did the ones who made any last year achieve all their dreams? Have a fun 2014
Has anyone self taught themselves a musical instrument? I just want to be able to play a few tunes as I am ashamed to say I can't play any musical instruments at all

If you decide that it's going to be the guitar rather than the keyboard, I can highly recommend the free online guitar lessons course at http://www.justinguitar.com - All aspects of playing are covered and Justin has a great teaching style. :D

A good place to start is the "beginners course" link on the left hand side menu of the homepage.

I point you to Andrew's joke in Joke of the Day:

Reading while sunbathing makes you well red.

Hi Diane,

I've only just seen this post. I play piano and I'm a music teacher, I can also teach you a few chords on the guitar.....let me know if you're ever near Croydon & you could pop in for a few free lessons!
