Re: Flight
Enjoyed this very much. As the director said, quite unusual in the sense that you didn't know which way it was going to go. Denzel is quite the joker. Now watching him on Graham Norton.

Interesting - seems that the overall impression of this movie is better from those that were at the Q&A with the stars.

Re: Flight
Saw this tonight at Odeon Covent Garden. Not my favourite venue but it was lovely to catch up with ejwrank.
After all the previous reports I had low expectations for this film. I was pleasantly surprised. As others have said before the first 25 minutes are gripping but then the film takes a totally different direction dealing with addiction. This part was less satisfying but still watchable. I thought Denzil Washington's performance was good but not an Oscar worthy performance. If this had been a tradition film the big crash would be at the end instead of at the start. So instead of building up tension to the end you are given a roller coast ride adrenaline rush at the start then let down with a crash for the rest of the film and left feeling a bit deflated for the rest of it.
The best bit for me was when Denzil Washington was left alone with a mini bar..will he or won't he. You want hime not to and you want him to be strong. There is a moment of strength but you know the outcome.
The Q&A was good with Kelly Reilly and especially Denzil Washington who was charming and entertaining. Engaging the audience and not a straight forward Q&A. Surprised so few fmukers there tonight.

Re: Flight
Well it is always interesting to see the stars in person and it sometimes does enhance the experience which was true tonight. Other times I can't wait to leave (usually when audience members are wittering away trying to impress). Everyone tonight was very charming.
Also wanted to add that it was good to meet tsoiboy there tonight -- thanks for the good company. We were surprised that the cinema wasn't full given the starry line-up.

Re: Flight
Was at tonight's screening at Odeon Covent Garden, think the low turnout may have been due to the inclement weather. Was in two minds about going, but boy, am glad I did. Definitely had its moments of terrifying action and some moments of dark comedy. Good support from Don Cheadle and John Goodman. And who played the cancer patient in the stairwell? thought he completely stole the film.
Loved Back to the Future, Who framed Roger Rabbit, so was thrilled to learn that Zemeckis would be at the Q and A. Got some nice insight into why he shot the crash sequence in a certain way. Also good to hear the actors' take on their characters. 8 out of 10.

Re: Flight
I am more inclined to see this now that I have read the latest comments and I'd have gone to yesterday's preview had I been able to, but I was alarmed by asamaic's post saying that a card (presumably Telegraph subscriber) was required for entry.
No-one else has mentioned this, but as someone else gave me tix, I'd have been turned away, so I'm really glad I didn't make a special trip to London.
Could anyone clarify this, please?
