It might be of interest for those who are thinking of seeing "Up In The Air" and would like an idea of how the film might be, or to those who have already seen it and are interested in similar works... Plus, it's a pretty good film anyway! :P

Confession time - I worked for a tobacco company once, although never smoked (OK, maybe 10 cigarettes of any variety in my life) and condoned smoking, nor shied away from talking about the bad news associated with it.

But I have "Thank your for smoking" as a DVD, and could almost name the characters.... I LOVE the film, and regularly lend it out....

It is both Moomoo - it is great to see him ageing as much as the girlies' (despite his eyelift), and just so much felt 'right', especially given the other comments from FMUKERs about the book...

BTW - there is meant to be a link between high radiation from flying and cancer... But there are more cabin crew and pilots than flyers, so I guess most of us are OK...

I saw this today at Odeon Covent Garden. The screening room was pretty packed, just a few empty seats.

My OH and I were loving the film. We just were a little frustrated with the ending. But otherwise I really recommend watching this movie. 9/10

Enjoyed this film, but not one of George Clooney's best I think. I do know a couple of people who avoid life just by doing he same thing - ie flying the world and burying their heads in work and denying they want or need any real human connection. I don't think I'll be recommending this one to them! On the other hand I know plenty of people who would enjoy this just for GC.

7/10 from me

We also saw this at Covent Garden and it was full. Unlike the rest of you, we hated the film. It was so boring--all those shots of rental cars, airports, dull hotels...how dreary it all was. And what was that little soliloquy at the end -- that star is the wing of my plane...blah, blah, blah. Glad that everyone else enjoyed their evening and sorry we cannot agree.

I'm afraid i've got to join the list of people who found it just okay. Definitely had a few laughs but the ending just didnt do it for me, you could say it left a few things "up in the air" (groan). still a 7/10 though.

Have to agree with those who thought it was just OK. Was bored for the first 15 minutes but once it got going I thought it was relatively enjoyable but nothing special. I can't understand what all the awards fuss around it is about. 6/10

First free film in 2010 and also found it a bit of a let-down, not helped by very high expectations. Good casting and acting, and some great one-liners, but not much heart or depth it felt curiously like a teen movie featuring grown-ups.
Not bad just not special either, I'd agree with 6/10.

Saw this last night at Wandsworth. I thought it started ok but gradually got worse as the film went on, and the ending was a bit lame.
Id give it a generous 7/10
