To be frank, they never were. I have been to plenty of Pizza Expresses in the last months, always saying "Can we use the tastelondon card without a booking?" and they have ALWAYS said yes.

I have always been able to use the card there without booking in advance anyway. It's a shame they have changed it from 50% to 2for 1 - no good at all if you were wanting to dine alone.

Yes that is good news about no need for telephone bookings but you do need 2 cards if there are 4 of you now. The Islington branch never asked for a booking but some of the others were very sniffy even with a booking. I was once 3 minutes late and they told me my booking was no longer valid! I did get in in the end but the Moorgate (City) branch was not particularly welcoming. Perhaps they are used to serving all those big, fancy City types, eh Beate?
