The Return of The Willow Festival in 2012!!!

25-27th May!

The Willow Festival will make a long awaited return to Peterborough in 2012. The original organisers of the festival will bring the event back to the Peterborough Embankment during the final weekend of May 2012, supported by Peterborough City Council.

The Willow Festival returns after a nine year hiatus from the city’s music calendar. The original event ran between 1998 and 2003. By 2003 the festival grew to become one of the largest FREE live music festivals in Europe, with over 50,000 visitors and was the biggest live music festival in the city’s history.

The 2012 festival will showcase 120 live bands from across the UK and other parts of the world. An eclectic mix of music will take place across six stages over three days at the festival on the Peterborough Embankment. TWF will remain the same scale and format as in previous years, but with further attractions on the site.

May the 4th be with you!

Celebrating Star Wars day, Generation Gallery in Manchester city centre, will be hosting an exhibition of the official Star Wars fine art collection.

Each official piece of art is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Lucasfilm, many of the pieces are limited to less then 95 worldwide.

“Lucasfilm are shaking things up, working with a new breed of retro artists to create pieces of illustrative art that I think will really surprise fans. The studio has even created a range of Victorian inspired portraits featuring the Star Wars characters, these amazing pieces are a good example of how daring this artwork is” – Robert Marks, Gallery Manager.

Fans from all over the country will be attending the invitation-only launch event on the evening of the 4th of May at the gallery where they can mix with Darth Vader and the squad of Stormtroopers attending on the night. On Saturday the 5th of May from 11am fans will have another opportunity to mingle with characters from the film while enjoying the artwork on show.

The exhibition coincides with George Lucas’s birthday on the 14th of May.

Some of the artwork flown over from the USA has only been seen on this side of the Atlantic on the set of the hit comedy show “The Big Bang Theory”.

Tickets to the opening event are free, call 0161 247 7870 to be added to the guest list.
