Re: Football
well if they were in front of people, i withdraw the argument.
i can tell its not a joke, and i am glad they got punished but sacking is a bit too much, seeing as they thought they were on break. if that had happened to a man on a lesser wage, it would be a death blow to the family,,and thats why i dont agree with it in principle. but i certainly dont like old narrow minded codgers like them, esp since they work for bastard Sky, and they should be made to p*y. if we didnt iron out prejudice we'd still have people discussing wifebeating, pakibashing and lynching at work.
i suspect you might not have noticed if you are a woman, but some men drop their guard when you girls arent around and do say things about you - just like some of you do about men. so you may not find this as shocking if you had already heard men's input when you arent around. it does happen more often than you think - occasionally they will forget they are at work, you know.
if it wasnt in public (ie amongst those who were friends) then its fine for them to just be themselves as long as it doesnt hurt anyone else, not that i wouldnt leave the room if they did that in front of me. There are far more worse people that need sacking, like the BNP, IRA, the KFC and the CDM who hurt us far more so it appears as a relative McCarthyism to destroy careers of minor league sexists, much as i'd like to.

Re: Football
I think men who defend it are hypocrites because every man has been guilty of some form of sexism towards women at some time in their life, no matter how small or trivial

Re: Football
I agree matty, which is the point I hoped to make in an earlier point. However what I jokingly say at home or with friends at the pub isn't necessarily what I can say at work. Employment contracts are quite strict about sexism, racism, homophobia etc and after 20 years of working in television wearing a Mic, both men should know better. And don't think that these are the only times they have discussed and treated women in derogatory manner, it isn't or else Sky wouldn't have sacked Grey and Keys wouldn't have fallen on his sword!
Admittedly football is male dominated in all areas and comments will always be made, especially whilst there are silly bints falling down in front of footballers with their silly legs wide open! But we aren't talking about 20 year old boys with more money than brain cells. We are talking about two men in their mid 50s, both have children. I'd love to see Keys' reaction if sometime in the future somebody spoke about his daughter the way he spoke about Jamie Redknapp's ex.
The first instance made them look silly, the subsequent remarks show them in their true light.

Re: Football
Have you seen the video of them laughing at the Women's FA Cup final highlights? That's was when they first got into trouble a few years ago. It's absolutely hilarious. People who don't laugh at those highlights have NO sense of humour. It's a total farce.

Re: Football
I haven't and given your reaction I won't be watching. Not because I don't have a sense of humour but rather I don't want to attack or mock people because of their gender. I have more self respect.
I was thinking of a bit of gay bashing later, care to join me matty? ( very sick and unfunny joke)

Re: Football
Lol, yeh, why not! And it's not attacking or mocking because of gender! That's exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about. We cannot collectively laugh at a group of women without looking over our shoulders for somebody pointing the finger at the massive sexists, even if it is absolutely hysterical. It's not exclusive, I laugh at blokes too. The world has gone to pot! Just watch it, and have a little giggle to yourself. But don't tell anybody! I wouldn't want you getting fired now.

Re: Football
Well I find your jokes/banter mattymc13 to be completely repulsive. Seems when others don't share in your brand of 'humour' you say they are the ones with the problem. Maybe you should look a bit closer to home as to who has the problem.
I won't be watching either.

Re: Football
Oh geez, I have a "problem". Oh God help me. Oh, I probably shouldn't say God incase it offends the religious among us. And I should probably say God/Goddess anyway, so as not to be biased towards any particular gender. Like I said, it's gone crazy. Can't say anything, can't do anything without the ones with the real "problems" having a moan. And I know I'm right on this one because even my mum agrees. And we haven't agreed on anything in 22 years!

Re: Football
Have you ever watched a woman's football match matty? I have, not my fave sport but there are some talented footballers out there. However, the original remarks by Grey + Keys were not about female footballers. They were about an assistant referee and a business woman. Tell me what about their gender prevents them from doing those jobs?
And to repeat, the men have been making nasty, snide comments for years and have been getting away with it because people were too scared to make a complaint.
Has your mum actually seen and heard all the comments? Is she fine with a woman being referred to as "it"? If she is then I feel sorry for her, I really do.
And for the record I'm the least P. C. person around but I do know how to respect people regardless of their sex or anything else for that matter. Shame the same can't be said for you!
