Raj - surprised you didn't mention Alice Cooper - he was epic! Dance, magic tricks, a snake (of course), a giant and a fight between Hilary and The Donald & more. Oh some music as well!

However I thought the line-up for day 2 was a lot stronger overall. Sorry you didn't enjoy Marillion, one of the highlights of the weekend for me!

Oh and you didn't mention the unsigned bands in the Beer Garden. Some good sounds and particularly liked the free double DVD/CD's.

I was/am a fan of Marillion but not so much the post breakup re-invention of the band.

You are right about Coop, but I didn't mentiona review because... I'm not worthy!*

Oh man, I really regret not staying for Alice Cooper. I compromised with my OH and left to watch the football match. Unfortunately, I couldn't get back in afterwards. :(

By the way, it was nice seeing you again, cliveas! :)

Saw Sensation in the New Wimbledon Theatre last night. I was actually expecting a tribute band – but hey-ho, it doesn’t matter if the songs and singers are good. The sound was very boomy, at times it was literally painful to listen to (in fact I think one or more speakers was shot). I noticed lots of people in the audience putting fingers in their ears. We might all be in the 40-50’s age bracket – but we were the original rockers and we like our music loud – but not boomy. I don’t think any sound checks could have been done, or if they had been, not done properly. As for the performance, Leanne Jarvis sang well, until she got to the power ballads and then she just sounded screechy. I think she needs singing lessons to help her cope with rock ballads, at the moment she just can’t cope. One of my favourite songs is Love Reign O’er Me (a great rock ballad from Quadrophenia) and I have to say that she completely murdered it, with a vengeance – it started off well, but then it’s meant to be blasted out – not screeched out. Her banshee-like screaming really hurt my ears. I listed to the original today with Roger Daltry on vocals – and my faith in humanity was restored. Mitch Miller was good, but I was distracted by his modern dress (undercut and skinny jeans) – maybe something a bit more Who-appropriate might have been better. Peter Eldridge was very good – definitely stuck in the 70’s – I could imagine him in a Led Zeppelin role and was not surprised to find that he had actually been in a Led Zeppelin tribute band. Although I am a big Who fan, I probably wouldn’t have gone, had it not been for the ShowFilmFirst tickets. Having sat through two hours of screechy vocals and very boomy sound, I was relieved to get out into the open air. 4/10

yeh it was ok but felt inferior to other recent similar revivals like the beatles, sunny afternoon etc. felt like they missed an opportunity in the presentation. the singers didn't feel at home with their acts too. 2ndhalf was better.

When the main highlight was two large ladies dancing at the edge of the front row, that says it, not stellar.
