Agreed. While I didn't think he was a great character, it didn't bother me too much as everyone else sort of compensated for his nonchalance.

I am a fan of Nolan's style and I did enjoy this but feel it is a step down from The Dark Knight. It is an epic finale and you can't deny it is big and action packed but the flow of the story was quite poor. There was no natural progression from scene to scene, just switching between characters and the story felt very choppy. The film started strong and ended with a fluorish but lost its momentum in the middle section. I was surprised at how little screen time Bruce/Batman actually had.

Aside from the pacing, the other weakness of the film lies with the villain. Bane is menacing but there is not much to the character beyond that. Even though I know the audio was improved after feedback from the prologue screening, I still found Bane's dialogue indistinguishable and muffled at some points.

8/10

In terms of superhero movies of 2012, I think the best is Avengers Assemble.

one thing for sure, Anne Hathaway was excellent, really surprised me tbh, was the only part of the film i was worried about going in.

poster above prefers Avengers, but i'd say this was way above and beyond better than The Avengers, which i still liked, but its not in the same league. Avengers had zero emotion and the story dragged in middle, and the alien creature things were pants. Alot of positives in that film, pure popcorn leave brain at the door fun, nothing wrong with that, but its empty.

Top Gun Maverick
MI 7 & 8
The Many Saints of Newark

Avengers was just another level of action, I cant think of any movie that has come close to that scale.

cant fault the action, sadly not much else going for it, didnt have a single heartbeat, felt like i'd seen what was in The Avengers in the Marvel films leading up to it, just a bit louder. Action was like the atrocious Transformers films, fortunately it had a little more going for it than Transformers did.

Amazing Spider-Man was about as a pointless a film as i can remember, liked Emma Stone who's great in pretty much everything, Garfield was ok outside of the mask, but the lizard was just terrible, Spider-Man was in no threat whatsoever, sucked tbh.

Think i may have gone off topic there, ha, soz.

But I would say The Dark Knight is better than The Avengers. I was comparing 2012 releases only.

TDKR is dark and gritty whereas Avengers is comedic and fun, and therefore I would be more inclined to watch it again.

I was tempted to give TDKR an 8.5/10 but went for 8/10 because I am in no hurry for a repeat viewing.

agree TDK is better than Avengers too, ive only seen TDKR and Avengers once each, but Avengers left me a little cold, hardly thought about it since i left the cinema that day, TDKR has played on the mind since, cant wait to see again.

I loved Spiderman, but am very biased, hes by far my favourite character mainly for being a very convincing dweeb (which is me all over really).

Garfield is by far the best Parker ever, even though hes way too old to play him (even more so is Stone for Gwen, but no complaints from me!).

Avengers is one of the those movies that I just didnt want to end. It could have gone on four hours or five, I'd happily sit through it. That Whedon interaction from Buffy and Firefly has been sorely missed for years. And the scale of the movie, it totally suited IMAX.
