Yip, 20 years. i remember it well as I was at Uni and some posh twat ran round banging on all the doors in the Halls of Residence shouting wake up wake up we're at war or some such rubbish! Could have happily brained him since it was 3.30 in the morning or the like!stuartboy wrote:Wow! Doesn't seem like that long ago. Time flies. Do you think it was faded intentionally or has it just not aged very well in 20 years? It just looked old. Maybe it was to differentiate it from the actual movie footage.alythonian wrote:
I can't believe it was 20 years ago since the first Gulf War so the BBC stuff was right to be somewhat faded in.

When I was going to see this movie today I merely knew what it's going to be about? The movie got my attention from the very beginning till the end. Dominic Cooper played very, very well.
Re: The Devil's Double
Call me stupid but to be honest I didn't know till the end that Dominic Cooper was playing both characters.
I didn't know he is so good actor!
Thank you for these tickets

Re: The Devil's Double
Join the club. I didn't know he played either part let alone both until I started reading thread when I got home. It appeared that all the credits at the start of the film were for asian names. I never recognised him either. Even more surprised to discover he was both. Very clever stuff.ramaloo wrote:Call me stupid but to be honest I didn't know till the end that Dominic Cooper was playing both characters.![]()

I'm still trying to get my head round how in ROTPOTA Andy Serkis played the chimp yet it was cgi. Confused.com.

I was at Didsbury tonight.spyzapper25 wrote:Who else is going to didsbury to night to see this film
I really enjoyed this film and thought Dominic Cooper was really good. I thought it was a bit gory at times but it fitted well with the story. I hadn't read any of this thread before watching so was not sure what to expect. I only watched a brief trailer after I got tickets, but thought this was much better than my friends and I expected.

Re: The Devil's Double
I was enthralled from start to finish. Think it was embellished a tad, but hey it was a proper yarn all the way through. Loved the gore, it was proper shocking for all the right reasons. I'm going to tell everyone about this. I loved it, and I love nowt. 10/10 - my film of the year (so far)
Re: The Devil's Double

Re: The Devil's Double
I also saw this film at Didsbury earlier tonight, combining a trip to Manchester to visit my daughter with treating her to a
free film. I hadn't read much about the film beforehand apart from watching the trailer and reading a few comments on here. This type of film is not one I would normally choose to see.
I loved this film! In fact I have been thinking about it all the way home to Liverpool - I found the subject matter so interesting and the film so powerful. Dominic Cooper played the dual roles of Uday and Latif so well and I thought that he captured the pyscotic madness of Uday Saddam Hussein brilliantly. It was good to see real news footage from the era included in the film, my daughter is too young to remember any of this and she said that it all helped to explain the story plot. The film is a bit gory in parts, and I had to look away from the screen at one particular point.
So glad that I got chance to see it today

Re: The Devil's Double
I seem to have avoided all the rioting in London tonight (am slowly catching up with all the news), had a smooth bus journey to Wandsworth and all. Wow. Others must have been delayed, coming in 20-25 minutes into the film, looking for seats in the dark..
I never knew what a despicable character Uday Hussein was! And what a sickening story, very hard to watch at times (although some people tonight were giggling at odd moments!?). Cooper's performance is indeed brilliant, although as already noted, the film flounders a bit mid-way through. Poor Latif, what an ordeal to go through! His book must be even more captivating, but for the film.. 7/10
