Saw this at Showcase Nottingham - No security and screen large and about 80% full. It was just ok not so sure I really enjoyed it, would have to agree with Beate & elski

Seen is Cardiff
pretty full cinema. It was a bit out of focus to begin with but someone got up and next thing all was well. sound loud, made me jump at times. We thought it was OK - yes violent and OH didn't like the bad language but then from previous messages on the film I had expected this. And yes I would walk through any under pass at night!

Enjoyed acting of Michael Cain, Emily Mortimer and Sean Harris and Ben Drew.

8/10

I watched this in Epsom and really enjoyed it. It was hard hitting, made me jump a few times and I thought the 'yoofs' were portrayed brilliantly. It's certainly not a feel-good film and I haven't seen Gran Torino yet, so can't fully appreciate the comparisons drawn so far...

Saw this at Castleford, where they checked ID, but no other security. There were very few spare seats left in the screen, but it was one of the smallest.

I just don't 'get' Michael Caine, and I thought this film was very slow at the start (and not even pretty like Bright Star). I'm with Beate and Elski and others on this - not my cup of tea, and no Gran Torino.

We saw this film last night in Leicester. Thought that Michael Caine did a brilliant job and felt the movie had some similarities to Gran Torino. All in all, it was an eye opener and a brilliant film to watch. I think to me, this film scores a good 9/10!:-)

The sugar-coated Gran Torino had nothing on this. And before you all have a pop at me...GT had it's flaws (Clint's two takes only stance and his habit of roping in 'real people' as supporting cast members - that ruin all sense of realism cos they're r r rubbish actors)!

HB was grimy, gritty and well acted. And even had a Reservoir Dogs stand off at the end! Well done Mr Caine and Miss Mortimer.

Come on people, support (non-Danny Dyer. Coff.) British films or else they won't be around for long!

I thought the film was good and I would recommend it - but it is not something that you could in any way say you enjoyed.
The film was actually less physically violent than I expected it to be - it was the constant verbal violence that really got to me.

I thought Michael Caine was excellent - during the opening sections of the film he was very much the broken, bent, old man and then in the later sections his whole presence was transformed.

I would have liked more backstory on the youths in the film - but I guess it was Harry's story.

We saw the film in a very small screen that was 100% full – everyone there seemed pretty gripped by it – no one at all left and there was almost nothing in the way of chatter/texting/rustling and so on – which was good, it helped to build the atmosphere.

Sobering, gritty and real = 7.5/10 from us.

I found it quite interesting. o/ I was expecting lots of violence and no storyline at all, but it turned out quite gripping! 8O Missed a bit at the beginning, it looks like there were not trailers... not when you need them! I wasn't late, but I 've arrived at the last moment, wasn't lucky with finding the space for my car :tears: and then stupid people in odeon stopped me  and said that it 's fist come first served and the screening is now 100%full!  I didn't gave up easy and finally made my way to the screen. and guess what! I found myself a seat and also spotted a seat on the row just before me and another one on the row before that! Why say the screening is full, if it's not true?
Glad I went, regret not having another "go" at 2 odeon employees after the movie, the ones who didn't want to let me in and made me to miss the beginning!

I have a definite liking for revenge thrillers, especially when the underdog fights back, so I thoroughly enjoyed "watching" the film (well as much as one can enjoy watching violence). It was very intense and what cinema is about telling an interesting gripping yarn. Yes bits were over the top and very violent, but it was very cinematic. It's also a relevant film for the current climate of fear from yob culture and makes some valid social statements. Hopefully these points haven't been overshadowed by the violence in the film.
I do agree with comments made by other members, the story could do with some working on, but it's undeniably gripping and intense. Michael Caine as always is very watchable.
8/10 for me

OK so the plot was a little one dimensional but this was not a bad attempt at portraying the violence that is so prevelant on some inner city estates. The riot was a little over the top - very 1980's darling ;)

BUT all in all it was pretty well acted throughout and although not a great film it was a good one.
7/10 from me
