Bit of advice please. The tour operator I am planning to go to Iceland with is not ABTA regulated.
It says on their website "To comply with EEC Regulations, all flights are booked through an ATOL Bonded Agent."
and on the confirmation booking form it says "For your peace of mind, all monies are pa*d into a Lloyds Trust Fund." Is that going to be enough protection? I asked her and she said
I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH ABTA OR ATOL, THE AIRLINES ARE THOUGH , FOR ME TO BE COVERED BY ABTA OR ATOL I AM REQUIRED TO HAVE A FUND OF £30,000 CONSTANTLY IN THE BANK, AND BEING A SMALL COMPANY THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE, THE COMPANY HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR OVER 26 YEARS EXCEEDINGLY WELL, BUT THIS MAY BE AN ISSUE FOR YOU. AS FOR THE INSURANCE COVER, I USED TO BE ABLE TO COVER ALL MY CLIENTS BUT NOW DUE TO EEC REGULATIONS I AM NOT ALLOWED TO DO SO , SO YOU WOULD HAVE TO GET YOURSELVES INSURED BEFORE YOU pa*d THE FINAL BALANCE WHICH IS DUE ON THE 26TH APRIL.

It says online that "When a company offers two or more elements of a holiday such as a flight and hotel or hire car, and offers them as a 'pre-arranged' combination, it is legally required to protect your money" but doesn't go on to say exactly how.

ABTA says
Voluntary Schemes

Some travel companies offer protection for your money voluntarily. For example, accommodation-only providers may offer protection although there’s no legal requirement for them to do so.
If protection is offered it may be by way of a bond held by a trade association, or by way of an insurance policy or by placing your money into a trust account.

Just got back from a fabulous 10 days safari in Uganda. I went trekking and saw the mountain gorillas as well as chimps, elephants, hippos and lots of other animals and birds.

Had a great time and it was great to have so many tickets for me when I got back, thanks to Diane65 for looking out for me yet again.
:thanks:
