Also worth checking out 'The Corner' the six hour miniseries David Simon made between Homicide and The Wire. I also saw the first episode of 'Treme' at the HBO weekend the BFI held a few months back. Quite different to The Wire but very promising. Clarke Peters is predictably amazing in all three shows.

I watched the programme on Concorde - about it's history and demise.

I always loved Concorde and was luckily enough to fly on it to and from New York which was an absolutely amazing experience. It was a shame that they decided to take it out of service and whilst all the explanations were due to the Air France accident in 2000, it was always clear to me that an economics decision had been made.

The programme explored some more into the flaws of the air accident report and it backed up even more so the explanation that it was not just one single thing that caused the accident but a catologue of errors by Air France such as over-fuelling, undocumented and inaccurate baggage load, insufficient maintenance procedures etc. Continental Airlines refute the claim that the accident was caused by a strip of metal from one of their planes and this is certainly backed up by eye witness accounts who say the plane was already on fire before it reached the point where the metal was.

I do believe that the major reason for taking it out of service was the possibility of criminal charges against the airlines if there were any future accidents and I do to some degree understand this but no-one can dispute the fact that Concorde was, in fact, one of the safest aeroplanes in our skies as the only accident was that of 2000 which resulted in 113 deaths.

There is a group which are restoring one Concorde to flying condition in the hope that it can take part in displays etc and their ultimate aim is a fly-by in the opening ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012.

It ended perfectly.

Treme got off to a promising start but as the series unfolded I found a lot of the characterisation unfocused and lacking in substance...it's a slow burner to the point where it's BARELY moving. I actually gave up on it half way through the series purely because I was watching S3 of Breaking Bad at the same time and felt as though I was unfairly pitting the shows up against each other (BrBa consistently blowing Treme out of the water).

Since Breaking Bad has ended I haven't felt an overwhelming desire to revisit Treme...which is hardly a glowing endorsement.

If you folks haven't got round to seeing Breaking Bad yet I HEAVILY recommend it. Season 3 has just wrapped up and to my mind it is the best series since The Wire. Bryan Cranston is just phenomenal in it.

PS: I'm totally in on the Clarke Peters love too...and the fantastic Wendell Pierce is another David Simon regular who makes me melt.

Prior to watching The Wire I was hooked on Oz - it amusing to see many of the cast end up in both series.

Paper Heart (Nicholas Jasenovec)

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia - Season 3 - Episodes 1, 2 & 3

Episode 2 of It's Always Sunny was pretty incredible. Danny Devito hallucinating inside a bin in his own feces after dropping acid.

I really enjoyed it...some good little cameo's from the likes of Seth Rogan, Demetri Martin and Martin Starr near the beginning. Charlyne and Michael's scripted story was charming but the parts that seemed like genuine documentary were definitely the most appealing to me. I also liked the rudimentary animation that accompanied peoples personal tales of love.

The original soundtrack was also a highlight...reminiscent of Pixies and Arcade Fire in parts.

I'd give it a 7.5/10
