London 2012 Olympics
Re: London 2012 Olympics
Why do the journalists keep on harping on about Becky Adlington's performance being such a disappointment?
She swam her life out this evening and at least managed to bag a bronze.
When did the media stop celebrating any medals other than gold?

I don't think they have any at that price available.annabrett wrote:do you reckon you would be able to get more athletics tickets (irrelevant whether morning or evening) around the £65 mark, out of interest?
The only ones I heard about were £95, £125, £150 or much higher.

Trouble is with our media is that they over hype and add too much pressure on our athletes. Adlington won two bronzes after the last Olympics that's a few good years, so hats off to her. Probably would have performed better without the added expectation of Gold.
Re: Tickets, they released a few yesterday but ticketmaster being as horrible as it is, had awful waiting times - by that time all of the cheaper tickets had gone. There are a handful of the really expensive £100+ seats left, which I am sure we can all afford :S

Re: London 2012 Olympics
Totally agree, and the other young girl swam wonderfully it was certainly no failure on Becky's part and a bronze medal at the Olympic Games should be celebrated, i watched her being interviewed later in the evening and she is such a lovely girl, she was very disappointed with herself as she has swam faster times previous to the event, but these thing happen and she still did great in my eyesJayman wrote:Why do the journalists keep on harping on about Becky Adlington's performance being such a disappointment?

Re: London 2012 Olympics
tempting but would have to include 100m final or decathlon for that. It would be a chore though having to queue I expect and other logistics.funthing29 wrote:I don't think they have any at that price available.annabrett wrote:do you reckon you would be able to get more athletics tickets (irrelevant whether morning or evening) around the £65 mark, out of interest?

RE: yesterdays tickets were a shambles my 15 minute wait turned into 45 mins to get usual message.
I have heard that some london ticket agencies have them for sale (News but no details apart from being opposite a cafe nero) so may try monday.
I have had a few bites on craigslist but most are looking at £200+(no good for me) but gazing at twitter now as they may unblock the ticket alert site and some people are trying to sell last minute on there too.
Not sure Usain has still got it, unless he is pacing himself..

annabrett, I tried for 100m men's final and cheapest tickets left are £450.
Just watched the 100m men's heats, wow they are like blurs on the track. Amazing to watch. Glad all the Brits qualified and Chambers won his heat. Can't wait for the semis and final.

Re: London 2012 Olympics
Quite. I thinks its because the media realise the bronze or silver dont amount to much in terms of the rankings unless its a tied gold medals position. But yeah, commiserations and appreciation for Becky's give-it-all efforts is what she needs, not a wave of media driven public disappointment. Winning gold in one OLympics was a great achievement in Beijing, to follow that up 4 years later with 2 more medals is even more wonderful. She can feel very proud overall. Well done Becky, she was my favourite GB Olympic star and still is. If I was rich, I would b*y her a pair of beautiful shoes and send them to her!Jayman wrote:Why do the journalists keep on harping on about Becky Adlington's performance being such a disappointment?

But look at GB go, 3rd position now, challenge now will be to stay at that spot as there is no way China and US can be caught up with!

yeh your keyboard is working. It has been difficult translating....
Paul McCartney was on ~£60 per second a few years ago (not sure if he is still getting that much in royalties now though.)
