Sir Despard Murgatroyd is a man under pressure. He has inherited a witch’s curse forcing him to commit a crime a day or die in agony. So it’s a huge relief when shy Robin Oakapple is revealed as his long-lost elder brother – true inheritor of the curse. This revelation scuppers Robin’s chances with the prim Rose Maybud, but his troubles really start when his feeble crimes drag his exasperated ancestors back from the dead.

With its top quality cast and creative team, Opera North’s much loved and universally acclaimed production perfectly captures the wonderful spirit of G&S’s topsy-turvy invention.

RockNess Festival

The three-day long Rock Ness offers an eclectic selection of bands in a beautiful location on the banks of Loch Ness near Inverness, in Scotland. Now in its seventh year the festival returns in 2012 from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th June.
