They originally said the people in London who had been most inconvenienced by the construction of the Olympic stadium (ie East London) would ger priority in the ballot for tickets.

But then the rest of the country said this wasn't fair as everyone should get an equal chance regardless of living near the Olympic village.

At the end of the day, they are going to get less no-shows if they give more tickets to locals....I can imagine some of the less popular events with cheaper tickets, people might no show, if they are from quite far away

The rest of the country aren't p*ying as much as us Londoners and they have not had to put up with the disruption during the building. Also, I am going to have to pass through Stratford every day on the way to Canary Wharf for work; can't begin to imagine the hassle it is going to be transfering from the Central Line to the DLR when the Games are on.
I really must calm down and get over it!! It just would have been nice to have been able to attend at least one event.

Tbh, those people will have already pa*d for their tickets, so I doubt the organisers will care.

The popular events are unlikely to have many empty seats.

They want it to look nice on TV though, this was mentioned as a problem in Beijing with too many empty seats

Is it just me? I am not in the least bit interested in these tickets. When would you ever have pa*d out sums of money for tickets when you don't know what you will see? Would you b*y tickets for a concert but not know who will appear or where you will sit? I saw the man on tv earlier saying he had b*ght £11 000 of tickets. I could think of other things to spend that amount of money on!!!!....... a new car or a good holiday. Oh well, to each their own!

In my case, I applied for quarter, semi and/or final of basketball and handball... even if you don't know which teams (actually a wild guess should do ;) ) will be playing, you are quite sure it's going to be good sports!
plus most of those events are at the O2, where it's virtually impossible to have a bad seat...

I think my choices were quite reasonable ;)

Edit: sorry... did you say a new car!!!!! how much tickets would you have to apply for to be able to afford a new (???) car instead

There was a man on TV news who had got tickets worth £11 000. I could b*y a new car for that price! Ok, not a Ferarri or a Porsche.

My family only applied for 1 pair of tickets which we have been allocated in the ballot.

It's quite upsetting for us as we applied on my behalf of my grandfather but he passed away last month so now he will not get the chance to use them.
