We have a few tickets to Fairfield Halls, Croydon - COMEDY PLAY: BORN IN THE GARDENS Thu 21st June 7.45pm Note: Tickets must be collected by 7.10pm (Bar/Café will be open from 6.00pm)
A comedy by Peter Nichols. Set in Bristol in 1979, Maud and her stay-at-home son, Mo, pass their days happily together. He talks to the cat, plays his drums and concocts ridiculous cocktails for them both while she sits chatting away to the people on the telly. No amount of coaxing from Maud’s suave elder son, Hedley, and Mo’s glamorous twin sister, Queenie, will persuade the eccentric pair to lead a more normal life – even the ‘michael wave’ is a gadget too far and part of a world neither wishes to inhabit.

Starring Colin Baker (Doctor Who), Peter Amory (Emmerdale), Karen Ford (Grange Hill), and Nicola Weeks.

Peter and Ruth have had a long and happy marriage. Or so Peter believes. They both have their own interests – he loves listening to the cricket on the radio, she likes to travel. But all is not well as Peter discovers one afternoon when he’s dozing on his deckchair and listening to the last test from The Oval. His wife announces that she has sold the house and she’s moving to Bexhill-on-Sea with her lover. When the new owners move in they discover they have an elderly cricket-loving squatter living in the garden…

The Old Vic Tunnels

Thursday 21 - Saturday 23, 7pm

Sunday 24 June, 2pm

After the sell-out success of Easter Holiday Camp, The Old Vic Tunnels returns with another nostalgic wonderland. Indulge in our Circus Tent with some traditional popcorn, or lounge around in the deck chairs enjoying a glass of Pimms. Get up to mischief with some wet sponge throwing and be shocked by the adult Punch & Judy show. There'll be badminton, basketball, Ping-Pong for those wanting to flex their competitive muscles plus live music from the retro Tootsie Rollers and a host of talented musicians (Live and Unamplified) playing around the campfire. Later in the night, special guest DJ Anna Greenwood (Guilty Pleasures) will be spinning old disco beats. Full line up subject to change.
