First Tracking becoming more active
As a number of this site's members will be aware, it is possible to earn some extra money by taking up the occasional assignment to make a list of the trailers and advertisments that appear before certain films in a cinema: while this does not allow the person to watch the film for free, payment will often be over £10 for most of the films.
One company that gives these opportunities is called firsttracking and they are recruiting for this weekend with a constantly updated list of unallocated assignments available at
http://www.firstmovies.com/FirstTrackin ... nments.php
If anyone would like to try this interesting, enjoyable and undemanding work, they can still register in time for this weekend's opportunities, opportunities which sometimes become available several times a year.

Do you literally just list all the adverts preceding the film? Is that it?

I phoned up yesterday offering my services for one of the cinemas and got a call today asking for my field rep ID, I obviously didn't have one as I never realised you had to sign up and register first, wish it was made clearer, felt a right lemon on phone especially when she asked for email address as then I couldn't be traced so she just closed the call when I asked if I could do assignment. Anyway to clarify matters if you want to do any of the assignments I suggest you sign up here first:

Isn't that the crowd that does test screenings but you have to be recruited by them in a cinema, otherwise they get very suspicious how you know them, and if you dare post something about their test screenings anywhere, they get very shirty.

Assignments can vary but you can have to list the adverts, the times that each one starts and something specific to that assignment e.g. whether a particular logo is shown or not. You would also have to list the trailers shown.weirdfilms33 wrote:Do you literally just list all the adverts preceding the film? Is that it?
Also there are assignments where you have to check the posters in the foyer e.g. list the numbers and sizes for each film.
You do need to sign up with them before you can be allocated an assignment but anyone can do this - they advertise on their website and you don't need to say how you found out about it. If you don't sign up they won't have your details with which to p*y you apart from anything else!annabrett wrote:Dunno but I signed up through the link and it went through ok, so we shall see.
Once you have signed up and have an ID you can apply for assignments by phone or by email. If you have listed the cinemas that you want to cover and there are assignments for one of them that don't get taken quickly they will email you with the details as well.

I've registered also, and i've read the various documents. Its a proper job which requires you to be self employed as you are responsible for tax and NI payments. Most of the time you are standing in the cinema watching the ads and trailers, leave as the movie starts and then move onto the next screen which is about start the ads. Then leave again as the movie starts for the next screen. The only good thing about that is you get pa*d more the more screens you visit.

If it's your second job and you earn less than £5,000 a year from it you can apply for an NI exception certificate class 2 but if you are already a tax payer you have no tax free allowance. The tax office are brilliant at giving you advice but you do have to register as soon as you start working and it's a doddle to fill in tax forms on line for something simple like this as long as you keep your paperwork up to date.steve9872 wrote:I've registered also, and i've read the various documents.
